Abstract
Yasuhiro Tsukamoto and his team at Kyoto Prefectural University in Japan have developed a new face mask which contains antibodies from ostriches eggs. The mask glows under ultraviolet light When it detects the virus. Actually, vice of the team helped him realise he was infected with COVID-19 himself.
The mask is hoped to help identify people who have a COVID-19 but do not have any symptoms. The researchers are hoping to get approval to sell the masks in 2022.

What are your thoughts on this invention?

I think the idea of finding out the virus from a mask is a very interesting and useful way to find out the infection.

Currently examination ways of COVID-19 use for slave or nasopharyngeal wipe as a sample for PCR. However, the PCR test usually needs a couple of days. Even if the fastest PCR tests you take, you need to wait 2-4 hours at least. On the other hand, when we are taking the rapid-antigen test for COVID-19, which can get the result faster and cheaper than PCR, we use nasopharyngeal wipe as a sample.
I think the rapid-antigen test is a useful and effective way to find and diagnose COVID-19. Therefore, I think the pain according to sampling of the rapid-antigen test is one of the most unfortunate points. Thus, if this innovation would approve to sell, I think it would help us not only no symptom people, but also people who worried about the infection but, they don’t want to take the test with pain.

But, we have to pay attention to the point that antigen test quality is lower than PCR test.
