羽化したら夫婦になろうと約束をしている二匹の雌雄の毛虫　　　　　　　　　　
     An engaged couple
     Of caterpillars, looking
     Forward to adult days

ひまわりが通行人に声をかけ客引きとして働いている　　　 
     Talking to passersby,
     A sunflower is working
     As tout for some shop

置き時計がボールのように丸くなり宙に浮かんで漂って行く 
     Swelling and getting
     Spherical, clocks go,
     Floating in the air

太陽が空のどこにも見えないのに空は真っ青で陰、日向もある 
     Though the sky is shining
     Blue and things have shadows, there is
     No sun in the sky

目の高さの宙に浮かんだいくつかの眼鏡がじっと私を見る 
     In the air, at the height
     Of human eyes, pairs of glasses
     Are watching me

虫酸たちが走り比べをするために集まってきて一斉に走る　　　　　　　　　　　
     Gathering together,
     A lot of mushizus start
     Sprinting all at once*

     *Japanese has an expression “mushizu-ga-hashiru,” which literally means “a mushizu runs.” This is used when one feels a strong disgust. It is amusing to imagine how disgusting it will be when a lot of “mushizus” run all at once.

     *“Manzai,” a comic dialogue by two comedians are often performed in the Kansai dialect.

     Jetting out flame
     From each sole, an elephant is
     Launched to the space
