A letter of recommendation from the school last attended is required (along with other necessary documents).
The duration is six months, and it can be renewed once, allowing a total stay of up to one year for job hunting purposes.

To prove the ability to cover all expenses during the stay, it is also necessary to provide documentation.
While obtaining a letter of recommendation from universities can be challenging, for some international students, obtaining this document seems to pose a significant hurdle

「特定活動」という在留資格の一つです。

留学を終えてから半年間滞在を延長できる就活用のビザがあるという事は知っていました。
でも、詳しいことは知りませんでした。
それで、少し調べてみました。

出入国在留管理庁のサイトに”在留資格「特定活動」”について説明しているページがあります。

”在留資格「特定活動」”　というのは文字通りある特定の活動をすることに限定した在留資格です。
在留を認められる「特定活動」にはいろいろあります。

そのうちの一つが「本邦の大学等を卒業した留学生が就職活動を行う場合」です。
簡単に「就活ビザ」と呼ぶことが多いです。

によると、
対象は日本の大学・大学院、専門学校を卒業した留学生、または海外の大学を卒業して一定の要件を満たす日本の日本語学校を卒業した留学生です。
直前に在籍していた学校からの推薦状が必要です。（他にも必要な書類はあります。）
在留中の一切の経費を払うことができることを証明する書類も必要です。
期間は６ヶ月です。　一回更新ができますので、合計１年間、就活目的で滞在ができます。

大学などからの推薦状をもらうことも簡単ではないと思いますが、一部の留学生にとってはこの書類は高いハードルになりそうです。
