Shizuoka is the top producer in 2020.
But to my surprise, Kagoshima came in second. (Kagoshima overtook Shizuoka for the top spot in 2019.)

The ranking of tea production in 2020 is Shizuoka, Kagoshima, Mie, Miyazaki and Kyoto prefectures in that order.

私も京都が一番抹茶の生産量が多いと思っていました。
お茶というと、京都と静岡というイメージを私は持っていました。

「ふじのくに茶の都ミュージアム」を知った時に、お茶の生産がおおいのはどこだろう？と思って調べてみました。

静岡がトップでした。
でも、私にとって意外なことに、2位は鹿児島でした。（2019年は鹿児島が静岡を抜いてトップだったそうです。）

2020年のお茶の生産量の順位は、静岡県、鹿児島県、三重県、宮崎県、京都府の順番です。

静岡が1位で京都が2位の時もありました。

抹茶についても調べてみました。
少し古いデータですが、2016年の抹茶生産量は京都府がダントツです。
京都1072トン。愛知県が2位で541トン。
