The schoolchildren couldn't play outside due to the rainy weather.

Someone said,

“Hey, don’t you think Gecko might be responsible for this rain? It's been raining every day ever since he transferred to our school."

Somehow the others agreed and exchanged glances.

Having overheard his classmates' banter, Gecko just stood outside the class room door.

The frog suddenly showed up.

“Hi gecko, what’s wrong? Open the door and enter the classroom.”

The gecko looked down a floor and said,

“Yep… I reluctant to do so. Everyone in the classroom says I am the cause of this rainy season.”

The frog said,

“No, you are not! That is a coincidence! Okay, I will talk to everyone.”

They went into the classroom.

After listening to the frog, children went to apologize the gecko.

“We are sorry for blaming you for rain. We are frustrated because we cannot play outside these days even though it is no worth to speak ill of someone.”

The gecko smiled and said,

“That’s ok. I will tell you nice playing which we can enjoy indoor in the break time!”

It was drizzling, looked like the rain watched over the children in the classroom.

Commentary

It is called “false cause” to presume that one is the cause of another when things happen at the same time. In this story, it started rainy season when the gecko transferred to the school, so classmates thought that the gecko is the cause of rainy season. Of course, this is the coincidence. When you presume a casual relationship between two things, you should verify based on the logic.
