　世界最高峰カメラメーカーのひとつで、携帯型カメラの元祖でもあるLeicaカメラ社から、同社フルサイズ(35mmライカ判)センサーコンパクトカメラシリーズの最新作「Leica Q3」が、本日21半過ぎ頃、同社ホームページにて発表されました。
　Leica Q3が搭載するフルサイズセンサーとは、ライカがフィルム時代に確立したサイズフォーマットで、36mm×24mmの撮像素子サイズを指します。「Leica Q」シリーズはこのフルサイズのセンサーを採用したコンパクトカメラです。コンパクトカメラとは、レンズ固定式のスチルカメラを指します。多少大きくてもレンズ固定式で携帯性を意識していたらコンパクトカメラです。
　フルサイズセンサーのコンパクトカメラは、以前は他社でも「SONY RX1」や「Zeiss ZX1」などが発売されていましたが、今はいずれも最新機種の発売が止まっており、この「Leica Q」シリーズが事実上唯一のフルサイズコンパクトカメラとなっています。
　センサーサイズが大きいということは、ビクセルあたりの受光量が増え、更には光学回析現象も抑えられるためピクセル数が増えてもちゃんと解像するようになり、ボケも発生しやすくなり、画質に直結します。しかしフルサイズセンサーは大変高額な上、その性能をフルに使い切ったレンズをコンパクトカメラサイズに抑えるには大変な技術的冒険が必要なためとてつもない高コストなカメラとなってしまいます。こうした高コストなカメラでありながら、4年スパンの新機種リリースでも常に受け入れてくれる信頼度の高いユーザーを抱えているのが、現在では世界で唯一Leica社であるわけです。
　そのフルサイズコンパクトカメラシリーズの最新機種が今回発表された「Leica Q3」となります。
　「Leica Q3」は最新のM11同等のフルサイズセンサーを搭載し、最新のMaestro Ⅳ画像処理エンジンを初搭載。さらにはチルトモニター、9Kの静止画機能、ProRes対応の8K動画機能、高精度になったEVF、オプションの無線充電プレートにも対応しています。固定レンズは28mmですが「Leica Q」シリーズ特有のセンサー出力サイズ切り出しによる35mm、50mm、75mm、90mm疑似ズーム機能も対応しており、9Kセンサーの広大なピクセル数を考慮すれば、コンパクトカメラながら、充分に中距離撮影も可能と言えます。これで前作の「Leica Q2」より25gしか重さが増えてないのですから驚きです。
