【News de シャドーイング】森元首相の例の発言 on ABC

　今回は話題のアレでシャドーイング。森元首相の例の発言を扱ったニュース on ABCです。

　こんにちは、TOEIC950からの伸び悩みT-Goshiです。この度は、こちらの記事を選んでくださりありがとうございます。

　TOEIC950を超えてから満点を取るまで7年…。飽きずに地道にコツコツと。細く、長く英語の勉強を続けています。

　今回は、シャドーイングの実際、という事で、話題のニュースでシャドーイングです。音声版はstand.fmからお聞きいただけます。

　話は逸れますが、タイトルのABCは『Australian Broadcasting Corporation』。オーストラリアの放送局なんですね。留学期間中は勉強のために聞いていました。英語もオーストラリア訛りです。

Tokyo Olympics: Organising committee chief apologises over sexist remarks
*オーストラリアでは、Organizeのzやapologizeのzがsになります。最初は戸惑いましたが、今では携帯の英語はオーストラリア式設定です。

スクリプト

　自分で聞き取って作るわけなんですが、これが勉強になる！普段の訛り具合がうかがい知れます。細部違っているところ等ございましたらご指摘ください。途中で入る字幕も一緒に書いてしまっています。

①　It's been a rocky road to the Tokyo Olympics and it could get worse for Yoshiro Mori, the Chief of the games organizing committee. The former Japanese Prime Minister has come under fire for implying that women talk too much during meetings.
　
②　The 83 year old Tokyo Olympics Chief has admitted his comments about women were inappropriate and against the spirit of the Olympics. But he said he is not thinking of quitting.

③　I am not thinking to resign. I have been working hard and helped devotedly for 7 years. From myself, I will not be stepping down.（字幕）

④　Mr. Mori who, short term as Prime Minister, was marked by gaffes, made the comments at an Olympic Committee meeting. When asked about increasing the number of female board members, he replied that, if they did, they have to restrict speaking times as women have difficulty speaking concisely, something he described as annoying

⑤　You can tell from such remarks that in the end, it's still a society dominated by men, It's very unfortunate that he said that.（字幕）
　
⑥　To be honest, I think it's also problematic that someone his age is at the top, and it would be better for him to take this occasion to resign.（字幕）

⑦　The hush tag,"#moripleaseresign" has trended on Twitter in Japan. The row adds to the mounting pressure surrounding the upcoming Olympics. Poll shows nearly 80% of Japanese are against hosting the games in July as scheduled.

発音Tips

　第4パラグラフの『at an Olympic Committee meeting』。母音が連続し、音が繋がることで発音しづらくなっています。
　at an Olympic Committee meeting
→a ta na Olympic Committee meeting
 下線部の音が繋がり、a ta naのように聞こえます。

　第7パラグラフの『scheduled』。普通『skédʒuːl』じゃないんか！？といったところですが、英語の発音になるんですね。発音は『ʃédʒuːl』になります。米語と英語の違いです。

スラッシュリーディング

　意味の塊でスラッシュを入れていき、スラッシュまで音読→音読したところを和訳の流れでやっていきます。頭から理解していく癖をつけ、返り読みをしないように注意します。

Reproduction

　今回は、音源有りなので、ちょうど良いところまで音源を聞き、そこまで口から再現していきます。書く時と同じで、だいぶ繰り返したと思っていても、身についていないことがほとんどです。

　細かいところになりますが、『the』や『s』の再現漏れ、聞き逃しに注意しましょう。意外と聞いているつもりでもごっそり抜けることがあります。そこは音読で重点的に練習です。
