三菱化工機株式会社(代表者:田中利一 所在地:川崎市、以下「当社」という)はこのたび、日本製鉄株式会社様(以下「日本製鉄」という)より、水素還元製鉄実証用水素製造設備(ICI式水素製造設備※1 37,500Nm3/hr×2系統)を受注しましたのでお知らせいたします。
本受注は、国立研究開発法人新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発機構(NEDO)の「グリーンイノベーション基金事業※2/製鉄プロセスにおける水素活用プロジェクト」の「高炉を用いた水素還元技術の開発 外部水素や高炉排ガスに含まれるCO2を活用した低炭素化技術等の開発」(以下「本事業」という)において、日本製鉄が採択されたことに係るものです。
日本製鉄が試験高炉、最終的には中規模試験高炉を用いた実証確認を行うにあたり、使用する水素を当社が今回受注した水素製造設備で製造します。本水素製造設備の製造能力は37,500Nm3/hr×2系統を有しております。君津地区第2高炉4500m3を用いた実証試験を行うことを決定し、現在、2026年1月からの試験開始に向けて設備の導入を進めています。

Tenova recently secured a contract for an Experimental Direct Reduction Plant (EDRP) operated by Nippon Steel Corporation, Japan's largest steelmaker and a global leader in steel production.
This project is entrusted by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
The plant will be installed in the Nippon Steel Corporation’s Hasaki R&D Center.

Tenova was awarded a contract for the supply of a Consteel® EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) for Nippon Steel Corporation. This new Consteel®EAF is the first one for the Nippon Steel Group in Japan - and it will be installed at their Hirohata works. Production is targeted to start in the first half of the 2022 financial year.

The companies will work to address barriers to early-stage commercial project deployment.
Google LLC, Microsoft Corporation, and Nucor Corporation today announced they will work together across the electricity ecosystem to develop new business models and aggregate their demand for advanced clean electricity technologies. These models will be designed to accelerate the development of first-of-a-kind (FOAK) and early commercial projects, including advanced nuclear, next-generation geothermal, clean hydrogen, long-duration energy storage (LDES) and others. As a first step, the companies will issue an RFI in several US regions for potential projects in need of offtake, and encourage technology providers, developers, investors, utilities and others interested in responding to get in touch here.

Today, Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE) announced that it has signed an agreement with Mercedes-Benz to supply Econiq™-RE for Mercedes-Benz models produced at their Tuscaloosa, AL manufacturing plant.
Since its inception in 2022, Econiq™ has led the global steel industry in certifying low-embodied carbon materials. By using Econiq™-RE, an evolutionary category of Econiq™ that certifies Nucor steel or steel products made with 100% renewable energy, greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced to less than half that of extractive blast furnace-based steel production (Scopes 1, 2 & 3).
"Nucor is grateful for the opportunity to partner with Mercedes-Benz as a strategic supplier of lower-embodied carbon steel, which will reduce carbon emissions throughout their supply chain," said Dan Needham, EVP of Commercial.
