ハンバーガーショップで、目障りで耳障りな商談をする人たち

この夏は暑かったので、久しぶりにハンバーガーショップでミルクシェイクを注文した。

季節限定のシロップをかけたものを注文して待っていたら、店員がやってきて、機械が壊れたので、作れませんと言う。
時々あることですか、と聞いたら、「直前の人までは問題なかったのですが」、と慰めにならないことを言うのだった。
仕方なく、アイスコーヒーに代えてもらった。

次にこの店に行ったら、買うことができた。家に帰って飲んだら、期待以下の味だった。

そして先日、バニラシェイクを店内で飲んでいたら、横の席に、三人連れがやってきて商談を始めた。
二人が説明役で、一人が聞き手である。一人が、数表らしきものを表示させたＰＣと、プレゼンテーションアプリで作ったと思しき紙を見せながら、説明を始めた。

テーブルとテーブルの間は、一人の人がギリギリ通れる程度の間隔しかないので、ＰＣの画面や紙の一部が私に見えてしまう。
静かな場所なら、ひそひそ話をするのだろうが、騒がしいところなので、大きめの声でしゃべっている。
聞こえてくるのは、応募者の人数とか、連絡のつかない人数とか、不採用にした人数とかだ。

客は３人だが、店員が持ってきた飲み物は二つだった。また、テーブルに置く、番号札も無かった。
コップをもらった二人は、そのハンバーガーショップの人と話をしに来たと思われる。

二人は何者なのだろうか。二つの可能性がある。

とぎれとぎれに、人材紹介業のカタカナ社名が聞こえたので、その企業の営業担当者なのかもしれない。
しかし、複数の人材紹介企業の名前が聞こえたので、本社ないし支社のスーパーバイザーか採用担当者の可能性もある。

前者でもよくないと思うが、後者ならさらにまずい。他の従業員はまともであっても、組織自体のセキュリティが甘いと、社外の人からは思われるからだ。

ＰＣや紙の中には、個人情報や、それ以外の取り扱い注意の情報が入っている可能性もある。隣の席の客が同業他社の人である可能性もある。電車の中でＰＣを開いて仕事をしている人と同様のレベルである。

このハンバーガーショップの近くには喫茶店もあって、テーブルも広いし、隣の席との間隔もこの店よりは広い。こんな会話はせめて他の店でするべきである。それに、他の店なら、彼らがどこの人たちか悟られる可能性も低いだろう。

もしかしたら隣に座った人が、その会社のサイトかSNSに店舗名や詳しい状況を投稿する可能性もある。
幸い私は利害関係も無いし、そんなことに興味もない。

彼ら３人にとっては幸運だった。

私にとって問題なのは、バニラシェイクの味が安物だった、ということだ。以前より味が薄くなったような気がした。機械がまだ不調なのかもしれない。
この味を忘れるまでは、飲むことはないだろう。

People having an unsightly and jarring business meeting at a hamburger shop

It was hot this summer, so I ordered a milkshake at a hamburger shop for the first time in a while.

As I was waiting at my table after ordering something topped with seasonal syrup, a server came over and told me that I couldn't drink it because the machine was broken.
When I asked if this kind of thing sometimes happens, I was told inconsolably, "There was no problem with the machine until the last person." I had no choice but to get iced coffee instead.

Next time I went to this store, I was able to buy it. When I got home and drank it, the taste was less than I expected.

Then, the other day, when I was drinking vanilla shake inside a store, a group of three people came to the table next to me and started discussing business. Two people are the explainers and one is the listener. One person began to explain while showing a PC displaying what appeared to be a number table and a piece of paper that appeared to have been created using a presentation app.

There was only enough space between the tables for one person to pass through, so I could see the computer screen and some of the paper. If it was a quiet place, they would probably talk in whispers, but since it's a noisy place, they're talking in a louder voice. What you hear is the number of applicants, the number of people who cannot be contacted, and the number of people who were rejected.

There were three customers, but the staff brought only two drinks. There was also no number plate to place on the table. It appears that the two people who received the cups came to talk to the staff at the store.

Who are these two? There are two possibilities.

Intermittently, I heard the name of a recruitment company in katakana, so they might be the sales representatives of that company. However, since I heard the names of multiple recruitment companies, they could be supervisors or recruiters at the headquarters or branch office.

I don't think the former is good, but the latter is even worse. Even if other employees are decent, people outside the company may think that the organization itself has poor security.

PCs and paper may contain personal information or other information that should be handled with care. There is also the possibility that the person sitting next to you is from a company in the same industry. This is the same level as someone working on a computer on a train.

There is also a coffee shop near this hamburger shop, and the tables are large, and the distance between the seats is wider than this shop. At least this kind of conversation should be done at another store. Besides, if it were at another store, it would be less likely that anyone would know who they were.

The person sitting next to you may post the store name and detailed information on the company's website or SNS. Fortunately, I have no conflict of interest and have no interest in such matters.

Lucky for all three of them.

The problem for me was that the vanilla shake tasted cheap. I felt like the taste was weaker than before. Maybe the machine is still out of order. I won't drink it again until I forget this taste.
