Self-Direction: My Future Goals

The content of this blog is excerpted and translated from a book I read from the author called Yutaka Shiraishi, who had helped various top athletes achieve their goals as their mental conditioning coach.

"Self Direction"is a method that allows you to enlarge your self image massively and brings you closer to your dream - incorporating positive self talk and strong imagination.

The "Self-Direction" is comprised of two methods; "Timeline"and "affirmation".

I've created my own Timeline and Affirmation where I shared my past strength, future objectives, and what I need to do daily in order to achieve them. 

Timeline 

Timeline is a method in which you identify your own strengthby reviewing your past chronologically, and you set your "short term goals"which have to be concrete and progressive that leads towards your long term goal.

By implementing this method, you will expand your self image drastically, and you will be able to visualize your BIG DREAMmuch more than before.

Setting these subdivided and progressive goals will assuredly allows you to visualize the path that leads to attaining your ultimate dream.

Affirmation 

Affirmation is a method that uses strong self-talk to visualize yourself in the future when you've already achieved your dream, which directly changes your self-image.

There are four sections;

In the first section,  you will write "what your ultimate goal is, and its deadline."

In the second section, you will write "what it means to achieve your dream and how much it's worth it."

In the third section, you will write "divided short term goals that leads progressively towards your dream, and how to achieve them."

In the fourth section, you will write the same thing as you did in the first section.

The process is similar to the one that Novak Djokovic (current world no.1) used to do when he was an adolescent boy in which he used to hoist a Wimbledon trophy that he made himself pretending he was a champion. 

In the End (Fake it till you make it)

By implementing these "self-direction", the chance of achieving your goal becomes considerably higher than the others who are trying without specific plans or goals.

The goals that you've written in the Affirmation process are not compulsory; however the affirmation becomes effective if you want to achieve your goal "as bad as you wanna breath."

The Affirmation process allows you to focus on "NOW"and to the short term goals that you have to confront, and subconsciously renders your self image as high as the person you are aiming to be. 

Have you ever heard of the term "Fake it until you make it"?  

You have to convince your self that you are already a champion and you will soon become a champion.
