ホステル「 UNPLAN Kagurazaka」&カフェ「Gather by UNPLAN」の魅力に迫る

【スタッフインタビュー Vol.1】

おはようございます🍁
ホステル「 UNPLAN Kagurazaka」と併設カフェ「Gather by UNPLAN」を代表する2人に、
それぞれの魅力について語っていただくシリーズの第1回目です。

【2人のご紹介】

－ホステルとカフェのそれぞれの特長や魅力について教えてください。

ERISA
「UNPLAN Kagurazakaは、2016年4月にオープンしており、ほぼ100パーセントがインバウンドです。海外のお客様ばかりというホステルは珍しいと思うので、そこがまず特長かな。カフェにいらっしゃるお客様も、海外のような雰囲気が味わえるのが魅力だと思います。
あとは、ドミトリーを経験できること。ダブルルームも選んでいただけます。
さらに、カフェが併設されているので、朝食やランチを食べられて、カフェの魅力も知っていただけるのが特長だと思います。」
 
KEIKO
「素晴らしいコメントですね（笑）。確かに、英語を勉強したくてお店を利用してくれるお客様もいますし、スタッフも多彩なゲストと関わるなかで、英語力を伸ばせる環境です。
カフェの特長としては、宿泊ゲストや周辺のホステルのお客様で、モーニングが1番混み合います。ベジタリアンやヴィーガンをはじめ、海外の方にも喜ばれるメニューを幅広く提供していて、なかでもエッグベネディクトやオムレツが人気ですね。
ランチでも、手作りのヘルシーなメニューが好評です。週替わりのウィークリープレートが常連のお客様から人気で、バターチキンカレーやケイジャンチキンサラダも定番メニューですね。
カフェとしては、コーヒーに力を入れていて、スペシャルティコーヒーを味わうことができます。デザートメニューも各種そろえており、自家製グラノーラとバニラアイスを合わせたグラノーラアイスが隠れた人気ですね。」

－お店で接客する上で心がけていることを教えてください。

ERISA
「私はゲスト目線で接客をすること、特に思いやりがすごく大事だと思っているので、思いやりをコアな気持ちとして働いています。その理由は、大学時代にアメリカに4年間いて、周囲の方からの思いやりに助けられてきた経験があるので、自分もその思いやりをもっと広げていけたらいいなという気持ちでいつも接客しています。」
 
KEIKO
「私は飲食や接客が好きなのはもちろん、お客様と距離感が近くてカジュアルに話せる雰囲気のなかで、楽しく働かせてもらっています。あとは、コーヒーなどホッと落ち着くメニューを提供すること、BGMをチョイスしていい空間を作り上げること。居心地のいいスペースでくつろいでいただけるように心がけています。」

【Staff Interview Vol.1】

Good morning 🍁
This is the first installment of a series in which two representatives of the hostel "UNPLAN Kagurazaka" and its affiliated cafe "Gather by UNPLAN" talk about the unique features and charms of each.

【Introduction of the two members】

UNPLAN Kagurazaka Manager, graduated from an overseas university.

-Please tell us about the unique features and charms of the hostel and cafe.

ERISA:
UNPLAN Kagurazaka opened in April 2016 and is almost 100% inbound guests. I think it's rare to have a hostel where all customers are from overseas, so that's its first unique feature. Customers who visit the cafe can also experience an atmosphere similar to overseas.
Another unique feature is that guests can experience dormitories, and can also choose double rooms.
Moreover, since there is a cafe on site, guests can have breakfast or lunch while experiencing the charm of the cafe, which is also a unique feature.

KEIKO:
What a wonderful comment. Indeed, there are customers who use our cafe to study English, and the staff can improve their English skills by interacting with diverse guests.
As for the cafe's unique feature, our morning menu is the most crowded, with vegetarian and vegan menus, as well as a variety of menus that are popular among overseas customers such as Eggs Benedict and omelettes.
For lunch, our homemade healthy menu is popular. The weekly plate, which changes weekly, is popular among regular customers, and butter chicken curry and Cajun chicken salad are our standard menus.
As for the cafe, we focus on coffee and have specialty coffee to offer. We have a variety of dessert menus, and the Granola Ice Cream, which combines homemade granola and vanilla ice cream, is a hidden gem and popular.

-Please tell us what you strive for in customer service.

ERISA:
I believe that providing customer service from the perspective of the guest, especially showing consideration, is very important. The reason is that during my four years in the United States, I was helped by the thoughtfulness of those around me, so I always strive to spread that thoughtfulness even more.

KEIKO:
Of course, I love food and customer service, but I also enjoy working in an environment where the distance between me and the customer is close and the atmosphere is casual and I can talk to them easily. I also try to provide a menu that makes customers feel relaxed, such as coffee, and create a good space by choosing the BGM. I always strive to create a comfortable space where customers can relax.
