ChatGPTといっしょに、過去5年間くらいの間に新しく出てきたり、よく使われるようになったスラングと表現を自分用にまとめました。

couch-potato が binge-watch の同義語に入ってきたのが面白い。確かに couch-potato にならない限り binge-watch 出来ない。

couch-potato は、ソファの上でずっとゴロゴロしてる人のこと。
・My brother is a total couch potato. He spends all day watching TV and never wants to go outside or exercise.

なんと動詞にもなります。
・After a long day at work, I just want to couch potato and watch some Netflix.


ghosted


無視されている/連絡が突如途切れる

2022年にもっとも使われていたスラングのうちの1つ。特に、デートした後、連絡が取れなくなった時によく使うようです。1回ヤッて連絡取れなくなる男はまじ sucks。

low-key


控えめに/リラックスした/派手じゃない

The term "low-key" is often used to describe something that is done or expressed in a subtle, understated, or restrained way. It can also mean keeping something low profile or keeping a low level of attention or visibility.

low-key は、微妙だったり、控えめだったり、抑制された何かを表現されたりすることを表すのによく使われます。また、何かを控えめにしたり、注目度を低く抑えることを意味することもあります。

正直、私の周りの人が pass the vibe check って言ってるのかどうかは覚えてませんが、vibe だけなら超聞きます。雰囲気的な意味。


rent-free

頭にこびりついている
(基本的にネガティブな意味)


The slang "rent-free" is used to describe an unwanted or unpleasant mental presence that is occupying your mind without your permission.
考えたくないのに、考えちゃう。

"My ex lives in my head rent-free" (元カレの事が忘れられない)は、"My ex is still taking up space in my head."、"My ex is still occupying my thoughts without my permission" みたいになります。

・Why are you letting your ex live in your head rent-free? You need to move on.

・That embarrassing moment is still living in my head rent-free. I need to let it go.

新しいかはわからないけど、わりと最近私が友だちから覚えた言葉。ディズニー行く時とかに使います。

・We're all going to the same party, so let's try and match our outfits so we look like we're together.


mochi donuts

最近アマプラで Dr. Seuss Baking Challenge  を観ていたら突如出てきた謎の日本語。

気になってググったら

『アメリカの伝統的なドーナツと日本の餅を掛け合わせたもの』みたいな説明が出てきたのですが、友だちに聞いたら「ああ、ポンデリングのことだよ」って言われました。

それは餅ドーナツじゃなくて、モチモチドーナツなんよ。ていうかなんやねん poi mochiって。ポイしたらアカン。
