4/2にオープン。

2022年4月2日（土曜日）、福岡市中央区大名1-14-28-第一松村ビル303にオープンしました。ゲリラ的にオープンするギャラリーです。事前予約をいただくことで、来場がとてもスムーズです。（19時以降の来場のみ有料）

第一松村ビルは、福岡のアートコレクティブ拠点です。ダンスカンパニー、ギャラリー、シェアオフィスが入居し、１０数年機能してきた歴史的な場所。

私がギャラリーを作った理由は、自身で空間を表現し、お客さまも自分も楽しめる、妥協ないものづくりをしたいからです。

自分の作品を製作、展示したい。

他のアーティストのキュレーションや講演会を、企画運営したい。

ブランディングやデザインを軸に、顧客起点で体験を創出する仕事を福岡で取り組みたい。その目印・拠点が欲しい。

東京ではなく、福岡に作った理由

そもそも、東京につくろうと考えたことがなかった。

どこのギャラリーも賃貸料があまりに高い。だったら自分でやろう。

自分の故郷で足跡を残したい、

面白いことをしたい、

福岡独特のカルチャー、人々に触れたい。

そんな想いが、ずっと胸の奥にありました。

アーティスト STEVE KIMとは

STEVE KIM

韓国・ソウル生まれ。カリフォルニア州ロサンゼルス在住。アーティスト、イラストレーター、教育者。

韓国のソウルで生まれ、2歳の時にアメリカに移住し、現在はロサンゼルスに在住しています。2006年にアートセンター・カレッジ・オブ・デザインで学士号を、2009年にクレアモント大学院大学で修士号を取得。韓国、イタリア、ロンドン、アムステルダム、クラクフ、リヒテンシュタイン、日本、全米で展覧会を行う。

The California Sunday Magazine, The Outline, FRAME, Matter/Medium, Adobe, SHOWstudio, Hohe Luft, The New Republic, Arc/New Scientist, Polygon, The Vergeなどのクライアントに作品を提供。

彼の作品は、Quiet Lunch, New American Paintings, Computer Arts, Beautiful Decay, PRINT Magazine, American Illustrationなどの印刷物や、Dazed, Hi-Fructose, Juxtapoz, BOOOOOOOM！, The Fox Is Black, Supersonic Art, TumblrのRaderでオンライン掲載されている。

　最近では、Red Bull Arts DetroitとカンボジアのSmiling Geckoでレジデンスに滞在。

ギャラリーのこけら落とし。そこでキュレーションする、最初のアーティストはSteve Kimさんです。L.A在住のアーティストで、水彩やデジタルを活用した作品を手掛けています。

Steve Kimさんに、依頼した理由

10年以上前に彼の存在を知り、一眼でファンになったこと。

月日が経過してもなお、ファンであり続けられたこと。

日本、特に福岡という土地で、彼の作品は最大限のインパクトを持って輝き、作品を求める人が後をたたないと確信している。

アーティストの人生の一端に、ギャラリーという空間で触れる。そのアーティストとして、Steve Kimさんを選びました。彼が私の中で、世界でNo1です。

活動は、多岐にわたり、豊富な展示を経験。今はNOHWAVEでも活躍しています。

彼との出会い

私がクリエイティブエージェンシーで、国内ライフウェアカンパニーの案件を手がけるメンバーの一員であった時のこと。世界中の多くのアーティストと接点をもち、クライアントのビジネス支援をしていました。

そのリサーチの際に（私が勝手に彼の存在を知り、アプローチした）知り合いました。残念ながら当時は、ビジネスには繋がりませんでした。

情感がそのままビジュアル化した、物憂げなさまに心を掴まれました。

時間がない中の準備

Steveは嫌な顔一つせず（私の英語力の弱さに、不安な想いをさせたことは多々。。）

一つ一つ、時間がない中、準備を始めてくれました。

「アイデアをデザインし、プレゼンで伝える。アートを設計し、空間の中で存在を気づかせる。」準備作業中、友人が話してくれた、アドバイスが常に頭に鳴り響いていました。

4月2日に無事オープン

おおよそ７０名のお客さまが来場されました。

※第一松村ビルのオープンスタジオが集客を後押しし、多くの方に見ていただく機会をえました。

お客さまから、さまざまな意見をいただきました。

なぜSteve Kimさんをフューチャーしたのか。

Steve Kimさんってどんな人？

Steveさんはどこにいるの？ 何をしている人なの？

モデルは誰？

私はこの作品から、目が離せない。

少しこわい。

目が離せなかった。ひきつけられた。

展示の仕方がシンプルでかっこいい。

すごく素敵な作品、ほしい。

高級ブランドのショーウィンドーや、ファッションシューティングの背景、企業の受付にあったら、すごい映えそう。

ギャラリーが1Fだったら、さらに人が押し寄せて、作品が売れると思う。

なぜ女性ばかり、モデルなんですか。

色の重ねかた、最小限の線など、ただものじゃない。類似する作品は多いけど、本物だ。

アートはよくわからないけど、美しいと感じられた。

同タイトルで（２）/（３）とバージョンが展開しているのが面白い。

好きな作品を２つ選んだ。タイトルが同じでびっくり。

本当に多くの意見をいただきました。

まだ始まったばかり

今更ながら、Steveのことをもっと知りたくなりました。彼がどのような人で、何を追い求めているのか（好きな映画や食べ物すらも）把握していないこと、反省しています。

彼との出会いは、まだはじめの一歩。作品を通じて、お客さまの気持ちに寄り添う。おもいを届ける。

↑これが、ROUND MIDNIGHT GALLERYの存在意義です。

ROUND MIDNIGHT GALLERYは、どのように、お客さまに喜んでいただけるのか。

次回は、7月から新たな展示も計画中！

どんどん仕掛けます。学べる場所、実際にトライできる場所として、もっとギャラリーの役割を広げます。

We opened on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1-14-28 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka, Japan - Daiichi Matsumura Building 303.

Daiichi Matsumura Building is an art collective base in Fukuoka. It is a historical place where dance companies, galleries, and shared offices have occupied and functioned for more than 10 years.

I created the gallery because I want to express myself in the space and create something uncompromising that both customers and myself can enjoy.

I want to produce and exhibit my own work. I want to curate other artists and organize lectures. I want to get work in Fukuoka with a focus on branding and design, and I want to have a base from which to do so.

Why did you choose Fukuoka over Tokyo?

In the first place, I had never thought of building in Tokyo.
The rent is too expensive for any gallery. So I decided to do it myself.
I wanted to leave my mark in my hometown.
I want to do something interesting.
I want to experience Fukuoka's unique culture and people.
These thoughts have been in the back of my mind ever since I moved to Tokyo.

The first artist to curate there is Steve Kim, an L.A. based artist who works in watercolor and digital.

Why Steve Kim?

I learned of his existence more than 10 years ago and became a fan with a single glance.
That I have remained a fan even as the months have passed.
That his work shines with maximum impact in Japan, especially in Fukuoka, and that he is convinced that there will be no shortage of people seeking his work.
We touch a part of an artist's life in the space of a gallery. We chose Steve Kim as that artist. He is, in my opinion, No. 1 in the world.
His activities are diverse and he has experienced a wealth of exhibitions. Now he is also active in NOHWAVE.

I was a member of a creative agency working on a project for a domestic lifeware company. I had contacts with many artists from all over the world and assisted clients with their business.

I met him (I knew of his existence and approached him on my own) during that research. At the time, it did not lead to business.

I was gripped by the languid wandering, which was a visualization of emotion as it is.

Preparation in a tight time frame
Steve never gave me a bad impression (my weak English often made him feel uneasy...).

He started the preparations one by one in a short time.

Designing an idea and conveying it in a presentation. Design art and make its presence noticed in the space. These words, spoken by a friend, were constantly ringing in my head.

Successful opening on April 2

Roughly 70 visitors attended the event.
*Open studio at the Daiichi Matsumura Building helped to attract visitors and gave many people a chance to see the building.

We received a variety of opinions from our customers.

Why did we feature Steve Kim?
What kind of person is Steve Kim?
Where is Steve and what does he do?
Who is the model?
I cannot take my eyes off this work.
A little scary.
I couldn't take my eyes off it. I was drawn to it.
The way it was displayed was cool.
Very nice work, I want it.
It would look great in a show window of a luxury brand, in the background of a fashion shoot, or in a corporate reception area.
If the gallery were on the first floor, it would draw even more people and the works would sell even more.
Why all women and models?
The layering of colors, minimal lines, etc., are just not right. There are many similar works, but they are the real thing.
I don't know much about art, but I found it beautiful.
It is interesting to see the versions of the same title (2)/(3) developing.
I chose two of my favorite works. I was surprised to see the same title.
We really received a lot of opinions.

It's only just begun!

After all this time, I am still interested in learning more about Steve. I regret that I do not have a better grasp of who he is and what he pursues (even his favorite movies and food).

Meeting him is just the beginning. Through his work, he is able to get close to the feelings of his customers. Delivering feelings.

Deliver time that touches the heart.
Give the impulse that moves you.

We will continue to set things up.
