Day47 プロフェッショナルなデザインとは？

おはようございます。Rulieホームページ作成部署のりさです。
3月25日（金）Rulieの日記をお見せします。

編集長のたろーであります。見ての通り、本日担当のりさは、英語で日記を提出してまいりました。ということで、そのままコピー＆ペーストしたわけなのですが。まあ、安心してください。ちゃんと後ろの方に翻訳を付けております。しかしながら、私の翻訳ですので、くれぐれもこれを英和の勉強になどは使わないことです。では、本文をどうぞ。

Recently, all of my friends in Japan graduated. Even though I was glad to see a lot of my friends who I couldn’t see for three years because of COVID-19, I felt lonely because I’m going to be the only one who is still a high school student. I congratulated all of my friends but I felt sad that I won’t see my friends in school uniform and not going to see them together in the same place. I believe my friends and my parents must have felt the same way when I left my old school in Japan. Any who, congratulations guys!! I love you all, and I hope your college student’s life will be great.

One conflict I encountered recently though working in Rulie is how to include what my customer wants while showing the uniqueness of my design. Before I joined Rulie, I barely made designs for others because I was always busy making art portfolios for my college which required me to show who I am through my artwork. Therefore, it is a big challenge for me to listen to what Ellie wants for the web design I’m working on in Rulie.

I believe just making a design based on what the customer wants doesn’t create a well-designed product. Thanks to the developed technology, everyone can design their own stuff easily now. The most famous software will be Canva. You just need to go to the website and click whatever you want to make. There are thousands of templates, so you just need to put information for your design. These kinds of software make my job harder. Since I want to be professional at a design I need to give some twist to the design that makes my customer happy and admire. For example, adding a smile mark under a to z (Amazon’s logo) which follows the target of the company.

I still haven’t found the solution to this conflict. I know I’m still an inexperienced designer, so I’ll keep working hard on designing to find my strategies to create designs that meet my customer’s needs and my uniqueness.

It takes time to know the best way to create a design and that will be what I want to study in college. Having an opportunity to practice is really precious for me and I want to try my best. I always appreciate Ellie for giving me a perfect opportunity to grow as both a designer and a person. To pay back an obligation, I’ll keep challenging my limits to expand my perspective.

最近、日本にいる友人がみんな卒業しました。COVID-19で3年間会えなかった友達にたくさん会えて嬉しい反面、自分だけまだ高校生のままというのはほんのすこしだけ孤独感があります。彼女らの卒業を心からお祝いしましたが、制服姿の友人たちとはもう会えないし、同じ場所で会うこともできないと考えるとなんだか寂しい気もします。私が日本の母校を去るとき、友人も両親も同じ気持ちだったに違いありません。ともあれ、みんな卒業おめでとう！みんな大好きだよーー！！！みんなの大学生活が素晴らしいものになることを願っています。

Rulieで仕事をしていて、最近ぶつかった葛藤は、自分のデザインの独自性を発揮しつつ、お客様の要望をどう取り入れるか、ということです。Rulieに入る前は、自分の作品を通して自分らしさを表現することが求められる大学のアートポートフォリオの作成に追われていたため、他人のためにデザインをすることはほとんどありませんでした。そのため、Rulieで手がけるWebデザインで、代表のエリが何を望んでいるのかを聞き出すことは、私にとって大きなチャレンジです。

お客様が求めているものをそのままデザインにするだけでは、デザイン性の高いものはできないと思うのです。技術の発達のおかげで、今は誰でも簡単にデザインできるようになりました。一番有名なソフトはcanvaでしょう。ウェブサイトに行って、作りたいものをクリックするだけでいいのです。何千ものテンプレートがあるので、デザインのための情報だけを入れるだけでいいのです。このようなソフトがあると、私の仕事は大変です。私はデザインのプロでありたいので、相手が喜び、感心するようなデザインに工夫を凝らす必要があります。（例えば、Amazonのロゴのように、aからzの下に、会社のターゲットに沿ったスマイルマークを入れるとか）

この葛藤を解決する方法は、まだ見つかっていません。まだまだ未熟者なので、お客様のニーズと自分らしさを両立させるための戦略を見つけるべく、これからもデザインに励みたいと思います。

最良のデザインの創り方を見つけるのには時間がかかります。このような機会は、私にとってとても貴重なものなので、頑張っていきたいと思っています。デザイナーとして、人として成長できる絶好の機会を与えてくれたエリには、いつも感謝しています。恩返しの意味も込めて、これからも自分の限界に挑戦し、視野を広げていきたいと思います。

国語ができないここなちゃん！実は私も一緒笑！アメリカ留学する前から友達に英語より日本語勉強した方がいいって言われるほど日本語喋れなかった。アメリカに留学してから日本語喋られるようにてなったわけでもなく、だからこれから一緒に頑張ってこ！
