EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW ON JUST B - by Hanryu Pia (Part 1 of 2), Nov 26, 2021

I have translated an exclusive interview by a Japanese magazine titled “Hanryu (Korean-Style) Pia”.

The interview was introduced by a Japanese professional dancer and former K-pop trainee named KOSUKE. The video consists of two sections: The first section shows an interview on KOSUKE’s experience in Korea as a Kpop trainee, and the second section shows an interview on JUST B.
KOSUKE was one of the Under Nineteen contestants, so he was on the show with Doyum and Bain.

The second section starts at around 8:59.

KOSUKE: Do you know a Kpop group who debuted recently and shows awesome dance performance?
Let me introduce to you, JUST B, the six-boy group who debuted this past June.
They released a new song “TICK TOCK” on October 27.

Q: What is the charm of JUST B, in your opinion?
K: My impression on them was that they'd always been sincere and serious about dancing, whether they were on or off camera. I was trying to learn from them when I was on the show (Under Nineteen). I learned especially from Doyum, who is younger than me – he was very particular about dancing, even at which angle the tip of his fingers should be. I respected him for his attention to details while dancing.

Let me also mention about (Lim) Jimin, who is another member of the group. He is a great dancer too. In fact, when I was a trainee, every trainee in the industry was talking about him like, “Hey, I heard there’s a trainee who’s really sick in that agency. He’s actually better than his dance instructors”.

Then I shouldn’t forget about mentioning about Bain - a tall guy can be moving awkwardly when dancing, but in Bain’s case, his dance moves were so smooth, and he was even taking advantage of his height and large body. That’s what I saw when I was dancing next to him. I believe he had practiced a lot to become such a great dancer.

The rest of the members had also been in some other audition show, so the  group has skills and experiences as a whole. This is the reason why I have high respect and expectations for them!

L: Konnichiwa (Hello), we are JUST B!
(Then everyone introduces himself, one by one.)

Q: Please describe the member who is sitting on your left side.
D: Geonu has very deep thoughts and serious, but he looks very cute and charming.
B: (To Geonu) Can you show us your serious charm?
G: (Shows a gesture being serious)

G: JM is full of cuteness. JM, can you show us your cuteness?
J: (JM sh)ows his cuteness)

J: Sangwoo is a cool guy. His gestures are cool. His big eyes are beautiful. Sangwoo, show us your strong eye contact.
S: (Sangwoo shows his eye contact and cool gesture)

S: The one next to me…
(Everyone laughs)
J: There’s no one on your left side, Sangwoo.
S: (Sangwoo then turns toward Lim Jimin.) Jimini-hyung is very elegant as he shows it when he dances. He is gorgeous in everything. Can you show your elegance to us, Jimini-hyung?
L: What should I show to you guys?
S: Show us your dance moves.
L: I will then show you my first part. (Lim Jimin demonstrates the intro part of Tick Tock.)

L: Bain looks strong and energetic on stage, but, when he is off stage…
B: Hehehe
L: He’s cute. Really. Cute!
B: Why are you telling it to me that many times?
L: Because you really are!
S: Can you show your cuteness to us?
B: Well, on stage, I look angry like this. (He shows his serious look on his face.) I can’t do it really well now. When I am off stage, I am pretty laid back.

B: Doyum is petite, but he has an inner cool charisma. His moves are very sharp and cool on stage. When he is off stage, he is cute like a little brother.

L: We are all like that.
