七夕の朝に
今朝のタウシュベツ川橋梁
北海道では旧暦に合わせて8月7日に行われることが多いのですが、本州で生まれ育った身としては、やはり長く住んでいても七夕は7月7日の方がしっくりときます。タウシュベツ川橋梁の上には朝から夏らしい青空が広がっていました。
北海道の東側では、今夜は良い天気に恵まれる場所が多いようです。
糠平湖の水位はなかなか上がらず、湖底には草が生い茂るようになりました。タウシュベツ川橋梁が緑色の景色の中に立つ様子を見られるのは、2020年以来のことです。
最近はすっかりエゾシカの餌場になっているようで、晴れた日に訪れるといつも数頭のエゾシカが草を食んでいるのを見かけます。
まだ気温が上がる前の朝、水面を渡ってくる風に当たりながらこうした光景を眺める時間が、夏の北海道ではじつに贅沢なものに感じられます。
2005年、北海道好きが高じて移り住むことを決め、当時移動手段として使っていた原付バイクのヤマハ・メイトに荷物を積んで大洗港へ向かったのがこの日でした。ターミナルに着く頃に夕立ちに打たれながら、ようやく乗り込んだフェリーの窓から見えた大きな虹を今でも覚えています。
早いもので北海道暮らしも19年目に入ることになりました。何の将来計画もなくやって来て、こうして今も北海道を楽しみながら、夏風に吹かれるだけでも贅沢を感じられていることに幸運を感じます。
たまたま移り住んだ先にあったタウシュベツ川橋梁を、これほど長く撮り続けることになるとは思いませんでしたが。「人生とは、何かを計画している時起きてしまう別の出来事のこと」（「旅をする木」星野道夫）という言葉を、七夕の日が来るたびに思い起こしています。
In Hokkaido, we often celebrate Tanabata night according to the old lunar calendar on August 7th, but having been born and raised in Honshu, July 7th feels more appropriate for me. Above the Taushubetsu Bridge, a summer-like blue sky spread out in this morning.
It appears that many places on the eastern side of Hokkaido will be blessed with good weather tonight.
The water level in Lake Nukabira is slow to rise, and grass has started to flourish at the lake bed. Being able to see the Taushubetsu Bridge stand amidst the green scenery is something that hasn't happened since 2020.
It seems to have become a feeding ground for Ezo deer recently. If you visit on a clear day, you will often spot several Ezo deer grazing. Watching this scenery in the wind that crosses the water surface, before the temperature rises in the morning, feels incredibly luxurious in the Hokkaido summer.
In 2005, my love for Hokkaido led me to decide to move here, and on this day, I packed my belongings onto my Yamaha Mate moped, which I was using as my mode of transportation at the time, and headed to Oarai Port in Ibaraki prefecture. I still remember the large rainbow I saw from the window of the ferry I finally boarded while being hit by an evening shower when I arrived at the terminal.
Time flies, and I find myself entering my 19th year living in Hokkaido. I came to this land without any future plans. There have been struggles along the way, but I feel fortunate to still be able to enjoy Hokkaido and live a peaceful life here.
I never imagined that I would be photographing the Taushubetsu Bridge, which just happened to be in the area where I moved to, for so long. Each time Tanabata night comes around, I am reminded of the words, "Life is what happens to you while you are making other plans." from Michio Hoshino's book "The Travelling Tree."
