ヴァチカンのエクソシスト The Pope's Exorcist ／ 実在したエクソシストがモデル ／ エクソシストを職業にしている人がいるらしい
尺もさほど長くなく、サクサクっと観終わる映画。
でも、そんな職業の人が実在していると聞くと…う〜ん😅
オスカー俳優ラッセル・クロウがホラー映画初主演を務め、カトリック教会の総本山バチカンのローマ教皇に仕えた実在のエクソシスト、ガブリエーレ・アモルト神父の回顧録「エクソシストは語る」を映画化。
1987年7月、サン・セバスチャン修道院。アモルト神父はローマ教皇から、ある少年の悪魔祓いを依頼される。少年の様子を見て悪魔の仕業だと確信したアモルトは、若き相棒トマース神父とともに本格的な調査を開始。やがて彼らは、中世ヨーロッパでカトリック教会が異端者の摘発と処罰のために行っていた宗教裁判の記録と、修道院の地下に眠る邪悪な魂の存在にたどり着く。
共演は「ドント・ブリーズ」のダニエル・ゾバット、「セーラ 少女のめざめ」のアレックス・エッソー、「続・荒野の用心棒」のフランコ・ネロ。

感想（映画とエクソシスト）
悪魔を祓うまでの時間がさほど長くなく、飽きずに観られた。
ストーリーは「（映画的に）よくある悪魔祓いの話」で、それ以上でもそれ以下でもない。
低予算（1800万ドル）で製作されたため興行成績的には十分潤い、続編の話もある。
最後のシーンでそれを匂わせるラッセル・クロウのセリフが出てくる。
公開当時（2023年）の評判は芳しくなかったらしい。

The Pope's Exorcist is standard-issue holy horror in most respects, but its star's sanctified performance will be the answer to some viewers' prayers." Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 45 out of 100, based on 19 critics, indicating "mixed or average" reviews. Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "B-" on an A+ to F scale, while those polled by PostTrak gave the film a 79% positive score.
Tamlin Magee at The Guardian noted, "Most professions are flattered by the attentions of Hollywood. Yet a body representing the real-life practitioners depicted in new Russell Crowe horror The Pope's Exorcist have condemned the film as 'unreliable … splatter cinema'. ... In a statement issued last month, the International Association of Exorcists (IAE) called the title of the film 'pretentious' and claimed that its Da Vinci Code-esque conspiratorial plot poses 'unacceptable doubt' to the public as to who 'the real enemy is, the devil or ecclesiastical power'."
「国際エクソシスト協会」という団体が実在するらしい。
その協会を設立したのは今回映画のモデルとなったガブリエレ・アモース司祭（1925年5月1日 - 2016年9月16日）。
キリスト教信者ではない者から見ると、過激な人のようにも感じられる。

司祭は、ハリー・ポッターの本は子供たちが黒魔術を信じることを奨励し、ヨガはヒンドゥー教を促進するため「悪」であると物議を醸した。
彼にとって東洋の宗教に出てくる輪廻転生は異端だったらしい。
（だからヒンドゥー教と関係が深いヨガは「悪」である）
