”You guys are being ridiculous!" Yaichi Tanigawa, a member of the parliament, loses his temper again during a press conference, makes a mysterious smiling pose which leaves SNS users repelled.
自民党最大派閥・安倍派の政治資金パーティー事件で、1月19日に政治資金規正法違反の罪で略式起訴された谷川弥一衆院議員（82）。’18年から’22年まで合計4355万円のキックバックを受け、政治資金収支報告書に記載していなかったことが明らかに。
The 82 years-old Yaichi Tanigawa, a member of the parliament was summary prosecuted for violation of the Political Funds Control Law on January 19th, in connection to the Political Funding Party scandal involving the largest faction of the LDP (Liberal Democratic Party), the Abe faction. It was revealed that he received a total of JPY 43.55 million in kickbacks between 2018 to 2022, which were not reported in the political funds balance report.
谷川氏は22日に議員辞職願を提出し、地元・長崎県大村市で記者会見を開いた。谷川氏をめぐっては昨年12月に、4000万円超のキックバックを受け取っていた疑いが浮上。それだけでなく、長崎市内での囲み取材で記者に「頭悪いね」と“逆ギレ”したことも大炎上した。
On 22nd, Tanigawa submitted his resignation as a member of parliament and held a press conference in his hometown of Oomura, Nagasaki. Suspicions arose for Tanigawa last December that he had received kickbacks exceeding JPY 40 million. Not only that, he caused a major uproar by "losing his temper" and telling a reporter "You're not smart" at the press scrum held in Nagasaki City.
わずか1カ月で議員辞職に追い込まれたが、会見ではベテラン議員らしからぬ態度がまたも物議を醸している。
Within just one month, he was forced to resign as a member of parliament, but his attitude during the press conference, which was uncharacteristic of a veteran politician, has once again sparked controversy.

冒頭では支援者や国民に向けて謝罪し、立ち上がって深々と頭を下げた谷川氏。
At the beginning of the press conference, Tanigawa stood up and bowed deeply to apologize to his supporters and the citizens.
質疑応答で「私は力をつけたかった。長崎県が抱えた課題を色々処理してきたかった。それなら大臣並みの金を集めてやろうと思いました」と語り、「全て私が悪いんです」と反省の弁を繰り返した。しかしキックバックに関する詳細や不記載が派閥からの指示だったかどうかなど、具体的なことは明言を避けた。
"I wanted to gain power. I wanted to address the various challenges faced by Nagasaki Prefecture. To achieve that, I considered gathering funds equivalent to those of ministers." he said during the Q&A session, repeated expressions of regret, saying, "It's all my fault." However, he avoided providing specifics regarding the kickbacks or whether there were instructions from the faction to omit them from the report.
会見が長引くにつれ、疲れも出てきたのだろうか。次第に感情的な態度が増え、大きなため息をついたり、記者に噛みついたりする場面も見受けられるように……。
The press conference dragged on, and it seemed like he was getting tired. As time went on, his emotional demeanor increased, and there were moments where he sighed heavily and even snapped at the reporters…
記者から「言いたい思いは山ほどあるように見える」と向けられると、谷川氏は「あります」と即答。「悔いがいっぱい残ってます」「生き方が一番間違ったよな。それが悔いだね」などと、自分語りを始めた。
When a reporter said to Tanigawa "It seems like you have a lot on your mind," he promptly responded, "Yes, I do." He then began to talk about himself, saying, "I have a lot of regrets" and "My way of living was the most wrong. That's the regret."
記者が詳しく聞こうとするも「あなたに言う必要ないよ」と遮り、突如として大手家具・インテリア「ニトリ」を讃える一幕も。その上で「馬鹿な人生だ、俺。本当に死んでも死にきれない馬鹿な人生でした。すいません」などと、後悔の念を漏らしていた。
A reporter tried to ask further, but he interrupted, stating, "I don't need to tell you," and unexpectedly praised the major furniture and interior brand "Nitori." He went to express his regrets, saying, "My life has been foolish. It's truly been a foolish life that I couldn't even die properly. I'm sorry," revealing a sense of remorse.
独壇場が続くなか、ある記者が「確信についてはお話しされていない」と指摘すると、谷川氏はヒートアップ。
As the solo performance continued, one reporter pointed out that "You didn't hit any of the core stories," which caused Tanigawa to become heated.
派閥の指示があったかどうかについても、「俺、言わないつってんだから。それは、その人の見識の問題だから」と“逆ギレ”。報道陣に対して、「あんたたちは無茶苦茶言ってるよ、俺から見たら。世界が違うね」「生き様が違うんだな」とまで言い放っていた。
Regarding the topic whether there was any instructions from the faction, he lashed out, saying, "I said I won't say anything about that. That's a matter of their judgement."
また別の記者から「説明していない部分もある」と投げられると、「説明する責任はあるけど言わない」と頑なに反発。追求する記者と押し問答になり、記者を指差して「長崎県のためにならないことは言わないんだと言ってんだ。それ以上言うんなら、俺を叩けばいいじゃないか！ 君が！」と激昂。
When another reporter remarked, "There are aspects you haven't explained," he staunchly resisted, saying, " I understand I have responsibility to explain, but I won't." As the reporter persisted, he became increasingly agitated, pointing at the reporter and exclaiming, "I won't say anything that isn't beneficial for for Nagasaki Prefecture. If you keep pushing, you just need to attack me! You!"
そして“ノーコメント”をアピールするかのように、突然「ニコニコ、ニコニコね。ニコニコ。ニコニコ」と言いながら両手掌を顔に添えるポーズをとったのだった。報道陣もあ然とした谷川氏の“激ヤバ会見”に、SNSでは辛辣な声が相次いでいる。
He then, perhaps to emphasize his "no comment" stance, suddenly raised both hands to his face in a pose while saying "smile, smile, smile, smile." The reporters were astonished by Tanigawa's "extremely intense press conference" and there has been a barrage of acrimonious comments on social media.
