［英詩］Bob Dylan, 'It's All Over Now, Baby Blue'

英詩のマガジンの本配信、今月2本目です。歌われる詩の1回めです。今回はボブ・ディラン5枚目のアルバム 'Bringing It All Back Home' (1965) に収められた 'It's All Over Now, Baby Blue' です(「 イッツ・オール・オーバー・ナウ、ベイビー・ブルー」)。

この歌は 'Baby Blue' という謎の人物に宛てられています。いったい、誰のことなのでしょう？ そういう伝記的疑問もありますが、文学的には、フランスの象徴派詩人アルチュール・ランボーの影響が濃厚だともいわれます。さらに、アルバムを閉じる歌として、'Restess Farewell' (アルバム'The Times They Are A-Chaingin'' を閉じる)や 'It Ain't Me, Babe' (アルバム 'Another Side of Bob Dylan' を閉じる) などとも並べて語られます。興味深い歌です。

まとめ

ボブ・ディランの 'It's All Over Now, Baby Blue' は誰に向けられた歌であるかについては諸説ある。その当時から500回以上コンサートで唄われているのは、この歌がディラン自身にとっても重要な意味を秘めているからだろう。
