［英詩］Bob Dylan, 'Mr. Tambourine Man'

ボブ・ディランの頂点とされる歌 'Mr. Tambourine Man' は、これまでの多くの研究にもかかわらず、定説がありません。「麻薬の歌」とする解釈は一貫してディランが否定しています（＊）。では、いったい何をうたった歌なのでしょう。

（＊）'tambourine man' は米国の俗語で「麻薬の売人」の意味がある。

アルバム 'Bringing It All Back Home' (1965) に収められています。ブルーズのロバート・ジョンスンの影響が濃い曲の一つと言われています。

カバーに掲げたのは、この歌が掲載された詩集の一つ、'Lyrics, 1962-1985' (1985) の表紙から。この詩集はディランが描いた、歌に関わる絵も掲載しています。'Mr. Tambourine Man' には絵はありません。ただ、文の終わりにピリオドが打ってあります。ここでは、ピリオドに関してはそれに従おうとしましたが、noteのシステム上、それをやると、そこが URL 化されてしまい、下線がつきます。

それで、結果的には、詩テクストのすべての面（コンマ、字下げを含む）について原則的にクリストファ・リクス校訂の 'The Lyrics.' (2014) に拠ることにします。改行、字下げは押韻や詩型に対する解釈を含み、その点で英文学者リクスの校訂に従うという意味合いがあります。ボブ・ディラン公式サイトにあるテクストとは違うことをお断りしておきます。
