Music has come back into my life♬

My life revolved around work and music up until my 30s, but after I started learning English in my early 40s, my life has been taken over by it! I couldn't afford to enjoy music.

Recently, I've been practicing the piano and guitar and listening to music over dinner. Music has come back into my life!

I took piano lessons in my childhood and continued somehow, though not constantly.
On the other hand, I used to play the violin in high school and university. The reason I took up the violin was because I was curious about music and a strings orchestra club was available. Besides, students didn't have to buy a violin; they could borrow one from the school.
Of course, there was a brass band club, but I wasn't very much interested in brass instruments.

That doesn't mean I was interested in the violin. If there had been a guitar club, I might have joined it. It was really by accident that I joined the strings orchestra club and took up the violin.
I bought my own instrument after I joined the orchestra in university.

Now that I am over 50, I was quite wondering whether to start playing the violin or the guitar. I've never taken a violin lesson, and I want to see how well I can play it by taking lessons.
On the other hand, the guitar is a dream instrument that I've practiced a bit.

After thinking it over, I couldn't choose one of the two, and I came to the conclusion that I could do both! I feel much better about it.

My top priority in life is still learning English.
I don't know which instrument I'm going to focus on the most. I guess it will come naturally. Anyway, I'm happy that music has come back into my life and I'm going to enjoy it in my daily life. 🎼🎵

わたしの生活は、30代までは仕事と音楽が中心だったけど、40代前半で英語学習を始めてから、英語に人生をのっとられた！音楽を楽しむ余裕がなかった。

最近ピアノやギターの練習をしたり、夕飯を食べながら音楽を聴いたりしています。音楽が私の生活に戻ってきた！

子どものころピアノを習っていて、コンスタントにではないにしろ、続けてきた。
一方、ヴァイオリンは高校、大学で弾いていた。ヴァイオリンを始めた理由は、音楽好きだったし、弦楽オーケストラ部があったから。それに、楽器を買わなくても借りて弾くことができたから。
もちろん吹奏楽部もあったけど、私は金管楽器にはあまり興味がなかった。

だからといってヴァイオリンに関心があったわけではない。もしギター部があったら入っていたかも。弦楽オーケストラ部に入り、ヴァイオリンを始めたのは本当に偶然だった。
自分の楽器は大学で管弦楽団に入ってから購入した。

50歳を過ぎた今、ヴァイオリンを始めるかギターを始めるか、かなり迷っていた。ヴァイオリンのレッスンを受けたことがないので、レッスンを受けてどれだけ弾けるようになるか見てみたかった。
一方、ギターは少し練習したことがある憧れの楽器。

よーく考えて、両方やればいいという結論に達した！ 気分がすっきり。

私の人生の最優先事項は、やはり英語を学ぶこと。
どの楽器に一番重点を置くかはわからない。おのずと明らかになるんじゃないかな。とにかく、音楽が私の人生に戻ってきたことがうれしい。日々の生活の中で音楽を楽しんでいきたい。🎼🎵
