Intruduction and evaluation about DMM English

I’ll explain about the DMM English system from the students’ side.
The function of the tutors' side is ... a secret.^^;  Maybe I shouldn't write it.

Montly rate plan

✅There are 2 types of subscription plans, "Standerd plan" and "Plus native plan".
✅Each plan have 3 course, one lesson per day, two lessons per day and three lessons per day.
✅With the Standard plan, we can take 25 min lessons with tutors from 127 countries.
✅With the Plus Native plan, we can learn Chinese, Korean and Japanese as well as English with 134 countries’ tutors including native speaker and Japanese.

Booking rule

✅For a one-lesson course per day, we can book one lesson a day. 
✅Even if we didn’t take a lesson, we can’t carry forward for the next day.
✅We can only book a lesson for the next day only after finishing my current lesson on that day.
✅If we book a lesson 2 or 3 days in advance, the period up to that day is going to be wasted.

How to make a reservation

✅You can search for tutors who meet your requirements by time, nationality, gender, age, characteristics, and free words. 
✅You can book up to 15 minutes in advance, but popular teachers will be booked soon, so you need to make a reservation early. 

Cancelling policy

✅We can cancel up to 30 minutes before the lesson starts, and we can get a refund ticket and change the lesson.
✅After the lesson starts, if the tutor doesn’t connect within 3 minutes, that lesson will be automatically cancelled.
✅If ever the teacher cancels the lesson we can book again for the next lesson again ,and on the top of that another free lesson ticket is given.

Rating system

✅After the lesson, we can evaluate tutors on a 5-star rating and write comments.
✅So we can check tutors evaluation and other students’ comments before selecting a tutor. 
✅When I'm looking/searching for a tutor, the ones with the highest ratings come out first. 

Medal collection system

✅We can get a national virtual medal according to the number of lessons we took.  
✅A bronze medal for one lesson in  a country, a silver medal for three times and a gold medal for ten times.
✅It makes me want to collect medals from various countries and helps maintain motivation. 
✅I have already won medals over 90 countries.

Pros and Cons

Pros
✅ Cost effective
In the case of Standard plan, you can take a 25-minute lesson every day for about 200 yen, which is definitely cheaper than going to an English school!
✅ Reservation flexibility
There are tutors from all over the world, and you can take lessons 24/7, so you can adjust to your own convenience.
✅ Abundant lesson materials
You can choose materials such as Daily News, Travel, Business, Pronunciation, etc. according to your English level and the purpose you want to learn.
Cons
✅ Connection environment
Sometimes the connection is bad and you can't hear it.
✅ Nationality bias
Although teachers from 134 countries are enrolled, there is a bias in nationality, and there are many Filipino and Serbian teachers.
✅ Difficulty booking popular classes
Popular tutors class gets fully booked quickly, so you have to book a couple of days in advance or buy plus lesson tickets.

what I thought of the system after using it

✅You can talk for 25 minutes every day for about 200 yen each time, so I think it is extremely cost-effective.
✅In addition to learning English, I can also feel like I’m on a virtual trip by hearing about the tourist destinations, foods, culture, and values ​​of tutor’s country.
✅One of my goals is to gather information for traveling abroad after COVID-19 and to make friends all over the world.  Also, I would like to be able to provide hospitality when the tutor comes to Japan.
