[和訳] Ceremony - Joy Division/New Order

Joy Division として最後にレコーディングし、Ian Curtis の死後、再レコーディングされ New Order のデビューシングルとなった1曲「Ceremony」を和訳します。

Ian Curtis が離婚協議中に、妻 Deborah への贖罪の念を込めて書いた曲と言われています。抽象的に書かれていますが、愛が産まれて、死んでいく様を Ceremony (婚礼・葬礼) に擬えているのでしょう。分かっていたのに避けられなかった“別れ”に対する、混乱と強い後悔を感じます。

Joy Division としては明るい曲調(New Order としては暗めですが)のナンバーで、メジャーコードのサウンドとこの歌詞の組み合わせが何とも切ない1曲です。
いくつかのバージョンが存在します。以下の「Singles」に入っているものがオリジナルです。
