Adam’s Descendants to Noah
ノアに至るアダムの子孫たち

GENESIS 5

This is the book of the generations of Adam.
これはアダムの家系図である

When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.
神が人間を作ったとき、自分に似せて作った

Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created.
男と女を作り、祝福し、人間と名付けた

When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
アダムが130才のとき、よく似た息子セトが生まれた

The days of Adam after he fathered Seth were 800 years; and he had other sons and daughters.
アダムはその後800年生きて、他にも息子たち娘たちが生まれた

Thus all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.
つまりアダムは930年生きて、死んだ

アダムにはカイン、アベル、セト以外にも
複数の息子たち娘たちがいるということなので
すでに何系統もあるという設定になっている
以下、ここから似たような記述が8世代続く

When Seth had lived 105 years, he fathered Enosh. Seth lived after he fathered Enosh 807 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Seth were 912 years, and he died.
セトが105才のとき、エノシュが生まれ、さらに807年生きて、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。セトは912年生きて、死んだ

When Enosh had lived 90 years, he fathered Kenan. Enosh lived after he fathered Kenan 815 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enosh were 905 years, and he died.
エノシュが90才のとき、ケナンが生まれ、さらに815年生きて、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。エノシュは905年生きて、死んだ

When Kenan had lived 70 years, he fathered Mahalalel. Kenan lived after he fathered Mahalalel 840 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Kenan were 910 years, and he died.
ケナンが70才のとき、マハラルエルが生まれ、さらに840年生きて、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。ケナンは910年生きて、死んだ

When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he fathered Jared. Mahalalel lived after he fathered Jared 830 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Mahalalel were 895 years, and he died.
マハラルエルが65才のとき、イエレドが生まれ、さらに830年生きて、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。マハラルエルは895年生きて、死んだ

When Jared had lived 162 years, he fathered Enoch. Jared lived after he fathered Enoch 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Jared were 962 years, and he died.
イエレドが162才のとき、エノクが生まれ、さらに800年生きて、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。イエレドは962年生きて、死んだ

When Enoch had lived 65 years, he fathered Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enoch were 365 years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.
エノクが65才のとき、メトシェラが生まれ、その後300年間、神とともに歩み、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。エノクは365年生きて、神がエノクを持ち去ったので、エノクは消えた

このエノクだけ、はっきりと違うことが書かれてある
雰囲気としては、エノクがずば抜けて敬虔で神に愛されてた感じがする
ちなみに、なぜカインの息子と同じ名前なのか不明
（前回の、カインが流れた先で町の名前になったエノク）
別系統の人なので、たぶん違う人なのだろう、まぎらわしい

When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech. Methuselah lived after he fathered Lamech 782 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Methuselah were 969 years, and he died.
メトシェラが187才のとき、レメクが生まれ、さらに782年生きて、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。メトシェラは969年生きて、死んだ

前回のレメクは77倍の復讐だ、と謎のことを言っていた殺人者
（カインのひ孫の孫、しかも一夫多妻の人）

When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son and called his name Noah, saying, “Out of the ground that the LORD has cursed, this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.” Lamech lived after he fathered Noah 595 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Lamech were 777 years, and he died.
レメクが182才のとき、ノアが生まれ、レメクは「神が呪った大地の労働と苦痛に満ちた手の苦労から、この子はきっと私たちに救いをもたらすだろう」と言った。レメクはさらに595年生きて、他に息子たち娘たちも生まれた。レメクは777年生きて、死んだ

After Noah was 500 years old, Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
ノアが500年生きたとき、子供にセム、ハム、ヤフェトがいた

そしてアダムから9代後にいよいよ有名なノア登場（第10代）
それにしても、こういう伝説級の人たちって
古事記の神武天皇うんぬんと同じで
なぜかありえないくらい長寿なのはなぜなんだ
伝説の人という語りを繰り返しているうちに
どんどん話を盛ってしまった結果なのだろうか
ただそれだけなのだろうか
純粋に気になる
次回たぶん有名な洪水が来てノアの箱舟する話だと思います！
