エッセー「賢者と勇者」

A story from ancient China.

A wise man and a brave man were talking to each other around the Yellow River.

After a while, a sudden rain began to fall.

When the wise man held up the umbrella he had prepared, the brave man saw it and said with a laugh, "The brave man is not afraid of the rain.

Hearing this, the wise man smiled and replied, "The wise man does not get wet in the rain.

If it is the brave who dare to take risks, it is the wise who avoid the risks themselves.

Which one will you chose.

古（いにしえ）の中国のお話。

黄河の辺りで賢者と勇者が語らっていた。

暫くするとにわか雨が降り始めた。

賢者がおもむろに用意していた傘をさすと、それを見た勇者が笑いながら言った「勇者は雨など恐れない。」

それを聞いた賢者は微笑みながら答えた「賢者は雨などに濡れない。」

敢えてリスクを負うのが勇者なら、リスクそのものを避けるのが賢者。
