Email interview with Ilkka Keskitalo.
Q : New album "Trapped" of King Company is coming out soon. Congratulations! Are you satisfied with the result of it?
いよいよKing Companyの"Trapped"がリリースされます。おめでとうございます！アルバムの出来に満足していますか？
Ilkka Keskitalo : Thanks!! I am very pleased the "Trapped". I think we made well balanced rock album which is same time modern and salute the roots of hard rock. Variation between songs comes up naturally because we have wide range of song writers in the the band. Final touch to album was made by whole band, and awesome mixing by Jesse Vainio make everything ride like it should be.
ありがとう！！"Trapped"アルバムにとても喜びを感じているよ。現代的な要素とHRのルーツに敬意を表する要素を同時に持ち合わせた、とてもバランスが良いロックアルバムを俺達は作ったと思うんだ。曲それぞれの多様性は自然に表れたんじゃないかな、俺達のバンドには幅広いソングライター達が居るからね。アルバムの最終的な仕上げはバンド全体でやったんだ、そしてJesse Vainioの素晴らしいミックスが全てがこうあるべきという形にしてくれたのさ。
Q : You joined King Company 2 years ago, people don't know well how you got to be a member of the band. Would you tell the story?
すでにあなたがKCのシンガーとして迎えられて２年が経ちますが、あなたがバンドに加わった経緯は意外と知られていません。よかったら教えて下さい。
Ilkka : Well that's a funny story. I had listened one new interesting metal band and suddenly they had to replace their singer because of his hearing problems. I was very sorry for the happening and after they announce a public search new singer, without thinking twice, I sent a sample of my singing to this open invitation. Funny part of the story was that even if my voice didn't fit to that band, their bassist Jyri Helko (Oceanhoarse, Warmen) forwarded my song to his friends Antti and Mirka. I was so surprised when Mirka sent me message “are you interested to position of King company's vocalist?”. I thought it about two seconds and said yes. I had listened the first album "One for the road" when it came 2016 and I liked it. It took a while before I knew the story behind this Mirka's message. So, I owe a lot to Jyri for this... thanks man!
ああ、面白い話なんだ。俺はある新しくて興味深いメタル・バンドを聴き続けていたんだ、そうしたら突如彼等は聴覚に問題があった彼等のシンガーを交代させなくてはならなくなった。とても気の毒だと思ったよ、そして彼らが新しいシンガーを探していると告知したから、熟考する事なく彼等の公開招待に対して俺の歌うサンプル音源を送ったんだ。この話の面白い部分は、俺の声が彼等のバンドに合ってなかったとはいえ、彼等のベーシストのJyri Helko (Oceanhoarse, Warmen) が俺の曲を彼の友達のAnttiとMirkaに転送したって所なのさ。Mirkaが「King Companyのヴォーカリストのポジションに興味はないかな？」と俺にメッセージを送って来た時には本当に驚いたよ。２秒位考えてやりたいと答えたさ。2016年に1stアルバムの"One For The Road"アルバムが出た時に聴いていて気に行ってたからね。このMirkaか
らのメッセージの裏にあった話を知る前にしばらくかかったんだ。だから、俺はこれについてJyriに借りが沢山あるのさ…ありがとな！

Q : You played in Finland, Italy and Spain before you guys started making the album. Any impressive thing during the tour?
あなたはこのアルバム制作の前にフィンランド、イタリア、スペインでライヴツアーを行いました。印象に残っている事はありますか？
Ilkka : To me personally whole year 2019 was impressive! Of course, first gig with King Company in Frontiers Rock Festival at Milano was very special. I remember that we had only two short rehearsal before that first gig, but still I felt like we have playing together for years. Tour in Spain was also amazing. Spanish audience is something else... They were singing along and between songs even without us. Everybody was happy, jumping and dancing, it was great tour!
俺個人にとっては2019年全体が印象強いんだ！勿論ミラノでのFrontiers Rock Feastivalで演ったKing Companyとの最初のライヴはとても特別だったよ。最初のライヴの前にたった２回の短いリハーサルしかしなかったのを覚えてる、でももう何年も一緒に演っている様な感覚があったんだよ。スペインでのツアーも素晴らしかった。スペインの観客は格別なんだ…彼等は一緒に歌ってくれて、俺達が演ってなくても曲の間にも歌ってるのさ。みんな幸せそうで、ジャンプしたり、ダンスしたりね。最高なツアーだったよ！
Q : You live in Rovaniemi and come to Helsinki for your band activities. Is there any difference between music scene in Rovaniemi and Helsinki?
あなたはロヴァニエミ在住で、バンドとの活動の度にヘルシンキにやって来ます。ヘルシンキとロヴァニエミとでは、音楽シーンに違いはありますか？
Ilkka : I don't think there's a big difference between Rovaniemi and Helsinki. We have great musicians in Rovaniemi as they are in Helsinki and all over in Finland. Rovaniemi is much smaller town than Helsinki so here we all know each other. I think we must struggle with same problems than Helsinki. The good venues for the gigs are closing. I hope peoples always support live music by going to see bands and buy physical albums and merchandise.
ロヴァニエミとヘルシンキの間に大きな違いがあるとは思わないな。ヘルシンキやフィンランド全土と同じくロヴァニエミにも素晴らしいミュージシャンたちが居るからね。ロヴァニエミはヘルシンキよりずっと小さな町だから、ここではみんながお互いを知ってるんだ。ヘルシンキ以上に俺達は同じ問題でもがかなくちゃならないと思う。ライヴの為のいい場所が閉まっていくんだ。人々がバンドを観に来たり、CDやマーチャンダイスを買う事でライヴ音楽を常に応援してくれる事を祈ってるよ。
Q : Would you give your messages to your Japanese fans?
最後に日本のファンにメッセージをお願いします。
Ilkka : I truly hope that this pandemic will finally end, and we all can start normal life step by step. One of my biggest future dreams is to play rock shows in Japan! Take care and be safe! We love you all!
このパンデミックが遂に終わる事を本当に祈ってるんだ、そして徐々に俺達みんなが正常な生活を送れる様になるのさ。俺の大きな将来の夢の１つは日本でライヴを演る事なんだ！元気で、安全でいてくれ！俺達はみんなが大好きさ！
