テキサス大学スポーツ観戦
今回は、テキサス大学のスポーツの観戦方法について書こうと思います。特に、UT学生用の年間パスであるBig Ticketを使った観戦方法についての解説になります。自分が使ったとき、若干分かりにくかて、多少リサーチしたので、その結果をまとめてみようと思いました。
UTスポーツ概要
まず、 UTの学生スポーツ全般については、以下のサイトにまとまっています。
すべてのスポーツについてチケットを買う必要があるわけではないのですが、特定の人気スポーツについては、チケットが必要です。学生の場合、年間パスであるBig Ticketを購入することで、個々にチケットを買う必要がなくなります。Big Ticketは200ドルです。また、Big Ticketにより学生用の優先席に通してもらえることがあります。

以下が一般的な説明です。
The Big Ticket is on sale now for the 2023-24 academic year for all full-time UT students enrolled for the Fall 2023 semester.
For all full-time UT students, this is your single ticket to access ALL of our events (yes, all of them - that's over 120 home regular season events for our ticketed sports a year for just $200 with NO PROCESSING FEE!).
Admission to every event is on a first-come, first-served basis for Big Ticket holders, and admission is not guaranteed.
Please review the new football online ticket claim process for specific information on how to secure student football ticket for each home game.
Students who purchase the Big Ticket can also request tickets for the Texas/Oklahoma game held Oct. 7 in Dallas at Cotton Bowl Stadium as well as away football games.
The priority deadline for the Allstate Red River Rivalry game between Texas and Oklahoma held Oct. 7 in Dallas at Cotton Bowl Stadium has passed (was July 21, 2023).
This year, the optional Longhorn Foundation Student Memberships providing priority claim access for these games are capped at the first 6,000 students who purchase.
留意点
どのスポーツがチケット必要なのか?
チケットが必要なのは、Football、Volleyball、Basketball､Baseball、Softball (FVBBS)です。これら以外のスポーツ(Track & Field、Soccer、Tennisなど)は、学生かどうかに拘わらずそもそも座席指定という概念がないようなので(すべてGeneral Admissionの扱い)、誰でも自由に観戦できると思います。
Non-Ticketed Sporting Events: Admission is free for all fans, and no Big Ticket is required for Texas Soccer, Texas Golf (men's and women's), Rowing, Swimming and Diving (men's and women's), Tennis (men's and women's), and Track and Field/Cross Country (men's and women's - not including Texas Relays).
VBBS観戦の際の留意点
FVBBSのうち、VBBSについては、座席指定が存在するのですが、Big Ticketでカバーされます。Student Seatに座ることができます。ただし、first come first serveです。Big Ticket購入済みであるかどうかはStudent IDに電子的に記録されているので、観戦時にはStudent IDだけ持っていけば大丈夫です。なお、先日Basketball観戦に行ったときは、Student IDさえ確認されなかったので、結構ガバガバな面はあります。他方で、Volleyballについては、今のところ例外なく確認されています。

Enter through any gate at the top of the steps of the main plaza (entry is not available through the workout facility).
Gates open one hour prior to first serve
Student seating is general admission and is located in the bleachers immediately next to the south sideline of the court with overflow seating in the upper level bench seating directly above the bleachers (first five rows of chairback seating not included). Students should arrive early to get a seat.

Football観戦の際の留意点
Footballについては、最も人気ということもあり、特別なTicket claimの手続が存在します。
試合は、通常土曜日に行われますが、同じ週の水曜正午(中部時間)からオンラインでTicket Claimができ、そのClaimが先着順になります(なお、私自身、今シーズン4回ほどClaimしていますが、席を確保できなかったということはありません。Ticket Claim開始直後だと、回線が混雑しているので繋がらないこともありますが、別の時間に再チャレンジすれば席は確保できます。)。無事Ticket Claimが完了すると、Student Seatを確保できます。ただし、特に座席指定されているわけではないので、Student Seatのエリアの中でいい位置をとるには、やはり当日早めに会場に行く必要があります(first come, first serve)。

ARRIVAL/GATE ENTRY
Texas Football: Beginning with the 2023 Texas Football season, Big Ticket holders will draw an online mobile student ticket in advance of each home game. Longhorn Foundation student members will have priority access to draw student tickets on home game weeks beginning on Tuesdays at Noon Central prior to all Big Ticket Holders on Wednesday at Noon Central.
All students who claim a mobile student ticket are guaranteed entry on gameday for that week's game.
Please review the Football ticket claim process information and revocation policy closely.
On gameday, make sure your mobile ticket is downloaded to your phone’s digital wallet before you head to the stadium, and bring your physical UT student ID (mobile IDs do not work) to the game.
Big Ticket holders must enter the stadium at Gate 25 on a first-come, first-served basis beginning three hours prior to kickoff. Gate 25, located on the northeast corner of the stadium, is the only gate that Big Ticket holders may enter. Please note that there is NOT a separate early access line for Longhorn Foundation student members; all Big Ticket holders will enter the same queue.
Your mobile ticket will be scanned. Head inside and cheer on the Horns!
Football Student Ticket Claim Information
Prior to Gameday
HOW DO I CLAIM A TICKET?
Step 1: Early claim access for Longhorn Foundation student members begins on Tuesdays at Noon Central prior to each of the first five home football games. All other Big Ticket holders have access to claim beginning on Wednesdays at Noon Central on home game weeks.
Step 2: Log in to your account online at the Student Login page using your UT EID.
Step 3: Select the available game and follow the online instructions to claim your mobile ticket. If all available student tickets have been claimed, please check back regularly as returned tickets may become available.
Step 4: Beginning on Thursday at 5 p.m. prior to each of the first five home games, all Big Ticket holders who have successfully claimed a student ticket will be able to download their mobile game ticket to their phone’s digital wallet by logging into your account.
Additional Football Ticket Claim FAQ
Will I be assigned a specific seat when I claim a mobile ticket?
No, all seating at home football games will remain general admission on a first-come, first-served basis. By claiming a football student mobile ticket, Big Ticket holders are guaranteed admission.
なお、上記抜粋箇所の中でも出てきますが、Big Ticketの$200に追加して、Longhorn Foundation Student Membership ($100)を購入すると、footballのTicket claimを一日早くできたり、Rivarly matchであるOklahoma戦の座席も優先的に確保できるようです。ただ、前者については、自分の経験上、座席を確保できなかったことが一度もなく、かつ、Membershipを購入しても結局はGeneral Admissionだと思います。なので、後者のOklahoma戦を見ないのであれば、敢えてStudent Membershipを取得する必要はないように思いました。なお、Oklahoma戦はDallasでの開催なので、中々行きづらいのではないかと思います。私は現地までは行かず、テレビで観戦しました。
観戦時の持ち物制限は?
カバンについては、透明なものでなければ、基本的に持ち込み不可なのでご留意下さい。会場によって、ポリシーが異なりますが、Footballの場合、以下が参考になります。
