・The program
So, I decided to dive into the 3-day Relax & Renew wellness program. It's all about relaxation massages, but they've got other cool stuff too, like detox and weight management programs.
The day after I landed, I sat down with a counselor to chat about my health goals. We had a good talk, and they set up my program based on what we discussed.
・Treatment menu
Mostly, the program was all about massages. But there was this Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy thing that caught my eye—it's the third item in the photo above. You hop into this capsule filled with super oxygenated air. It's supposed to help you heal faster by pumping up your blood with oxygen.
The capsule had me feeling like I was on a plane with my ears popping and all. I hit the help button, and the therapist walked me through some breathing exercises. After that, I relaxed and even took a little nap.
・Cost
The whole wellness package set me back 50,000 baht (about 1,400 USD), covering meals for three days and airport pickup. Another 50,000 baht went to accommodation. So, all in all, I spent 100,000 baht (2,800 USD).
Now, whether that's pricey or not is really up to you and your budget. But for a high-end wellness spot like this, I thought it was pretty fair. While some of the massages didn't wow me, I loved the vibe and the killer views.
・My Two Cents:
While I was there, I noticed a bunch of guests from Europe—lots from Germany and the U.K.—and a few folks from Israel. Didn't see many Asians, but it's a chill spot if you're traveling solo.
They're big on the whole digital detox thing, so no phones allowed in the dining and spa areas. I packed a couple of books, thinking I'd need them, but I finished them pretty quickly. Good thing they've got a library!
As for my health, no weight loss for me—I couldn't resist the delicious non-diet meals. And no bug bites either, thanks to the bug spray in my room.
The massages? Well, I've had better back home in Japan. And sometimes, I had a hard time understanding the therapists because of their accents.
So, would I call Kamalaya the ultimate healing spot? Not really. But I had a blast thanks to their awesome hospitality. I'm already thinking about trying a different program and room next time!
