瀬戸内海の絶景を楽しむ展望台が尾道千光寺公園に完成 　　An observatory to enjoy the spectacular view of the Seto Inland Sea is completed in Onomichi Senkoji Park

この桜の季節に、尾道出身のカメラマン・栗山主税氏と広島ニュース<tabetainjya>から尾道情報が届いた。

全国的に知られているかどうかわからないが、中国地方では知名度抜群の眺望スポット「千光寺公園」。山陽本線・尾道駅の北側にある標高約144メートルの小高い「千光寺山」山頂から中腹にある。瀬戸内の景色をのぞむ最高のロケーション地である。
この季節は、山の中腹から斜面にかけ咲く桜は見応えがある。全国の「さくら名所100選」にも選ばれ花見客でにぎわう。そんな写真や動画が届いたので紹介する。

I don't know if it is known nationwide, but Senkoji Park is a well-known scenic spot in the Chugoku region. It is located on the hillside from the summit of "Senkojiyama", which is a small elevation of about 144 meters on the north side of Onomichi Station on the Sanyo Main Line. It is the best location with a view of Setouchi.
In this season, the cherry blossoms that bloom from the mountainside to the slopes are spectacular. It has been selected as one of the "100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots" in Japan and is crowded with cherry blossom viewing visitors. I have received such photos and videos, so I will introduce them.

その千光寺公園に、尾道水道や瀬戸内海を360度見渡せる頂上エリアの展望台が65年ぶりに建て替えられた。新たな眺望スポット「千光寺公園視点場」として2022年3月11日にオープン。その展望台の名称は「PEAK（ピーク）」。展望デッキの大きさは、東西63メートル、幅3.6メートル。展望デッキまでは緩やかならせん階段を上る。またエレベーターを新設しバリアフリーに対応している。

At Senkoji Park, the observatory in the summit area, which overlooks the Onomichi Channel and the Seto Inland Sea 360 degrees, was rebuilt for the first time in 65 years. Opened on March 11, 2022 as a new view spot "Senkoji Park Perspective". The name of the observatory is "PEAK". The size of the observation deck is 63 meters east and west and 3.6 meters wide. Climb the gentle spiral stairs to the observation deck. In addition, a new elevator has been installed to make it barrier-free.

　　　　　　　　　展望台の側面は尾道城の石垣を利用

千光寺公園内にかつてあった城型の博物館「尾道城」の場所に土台部分になっていた石垣や、入口、階段などはそのまま生かされ、尾道城の面影が残している。
昔を懐かしみ、新しい時代に対応した尾道の重宝がまた一つ増えた。

The stone wall, entrance, stairs, etc. that used to be the base of the castle-shaped museum "Onomichi Castle" that once existed in Senkoji Park are kept alive, and the remnants of Onomichi Castle remain.
Nostalgic for the old days, the usefulness of Onomichi for the new era has increased again.
