清澄な景色は美しい。朱塀は観音様が輝いて見えるように The clear scenery is beautiful. The red wall makes Kannon look shining

蓮華王院本堂(三十三間堂)の東側(正面)には本堂に並行して朱雀門と朱色の塀が建てられている。本堂とその塀の間には、朱色の鐘楼と庭園以外は砂利が敷き詰められ広大な空間が広がっている。

On the east side (front) of the main hall of Renkeoin (Sanjusangendo), a Suzakumon gate and a vermilion fence are built in parallel with the main hall. Between the main hall and its wall, there is a vast space covered with gravel except for the vermilion bell tower and the garden.

この空間のなかで目を惹いたのが「朱色の塀」。焦げ茶色の本堂に納められている千体の観音様が輝いて見えるよう朱色に染まった塀が門から東西に百メートル以上も続いている。
余計なものがない景色は清澄であり、美しいものである。

The "vermilion fence" caught my eye in this space. A wall dyed in vermilion extends from the gate to the east and west for more than 100 meters so that the thousand Kannon-sama in the dark brown main hall can be seen shining. The scenery with nothing extra is clear and beautiful.
