I'm reading the short story "Yar Chayka" included in "Still Life." Personally, I prefer this story; it revolves around the Soviet era, back when it was still called the USSR. The Soviet Union produced Gagarin and the first female cosmonaut, Tereshkova – impressive achievements. Yar Chayka is Tereshkova's call sign; hearing "call sign" brings Top Gun to mind. Yar Chayka apparently means seagull, which has a somewhat poignant resonance.

On a train, I found myself curious about the bay nestled between the Liaodong and Shandong Peninsulas. Ah, it's the Bohai Sea. The character for "Bo" brings thoughts of arousal – quite an interesting association.

渤海の「渤」の漢字を見て、「勃起」を想起しない男はいない。いたとしたら、そいつは2つの意味でタチの悪いオカマだ。
