TOYA Shigeo has continued his work with an original logic, ”The sculpture is made from accumulation of the line of sight”.
In 2019, Toya hold the exhibition about his logic, "Body of the Gaze".
The basic meaning of Body of the Gaze is "A sculpture made from many lines of sight".
For a sculptor, the line of sight has not only visual problems but also all sensations.
Images that are shaped by Invisible lines in space are Body of the Gaze.
In this exhibition, Toya tried to take out only lines of sight from the "Forest" series.
About an installation, Body of the Gaze - Scatter(2019), There is a cube in the center of the room. The cube has a lot of scratches made by a chainsaw.
The walls of the room are full of debris like something exploding.
Every debris has scratches too.
In this work, by arranging uneven shapes in the space, a large number of random lines are created in the space so that the line of sight is visible.
