UCHU WAGASHI その1

京都の和菓子屋さん。UCHU WAGASHI店さん。教えてもらって面白いと思ったのでネットで色々調べて英訳してみました。素人仕事なのでご注意ください。

UCHU wagashi is the Japanese sweets shop located in Kamigyo-Ku, Kyoto, which is popular for its modern design and deliciousness.
Opened in 2010, the shop's most important product is the colorful and freely designed Rakugan(落雁).
Katsuya Kimoto, who is the representative of UCHU wagashi designed this Rakugan. His previous job was as a graphic designer.
Rakugan is a traditional Japanese sweet made by adding sugar or starch syrup to grain powder, pressing it into a wooden mold, and drying it.
In general, Rakugan is often made from Wasanbon sugar, which is sweet and melts easily in the mouth.
However, Wasanbon sugar is difficult to mold and breaks with a small impact.
It is necessary to add a mixture to make a delicate design, but it affects the taste and texture.
Mr. Kimoto thought such Rakugans were beautiful but not delicious.
So he decided to create a design that would not crumble easily.
"Drawing" was born from this challenge. In order to take care of the soft melting in the mouth, he made it as thin as 7 to 8 mm and selected a flat design so that it doesn’t crumble.
Traditionally, Rakugan is shaped like plants and fauna, but "Drawing" is shaped like a circle divided into four equal parts.
This is an idea that allows
eaters to freely create their favorite motifs such as fish and butterflies.
There are two ways of thinking in the Japanese traditional sweets world. One is to keep the traditional style, and the other is to create new sweets that suit the times.
The concept of the UCHU wagashi brand is "Japanese sweets that make people excited and happy."
The brand name comes from the idea that "Japanese sweets also have infinite possibilities like the universe."
Their goal is to create innovative Japanese sweets that are not bound by stereotypes, such as "Drawing."
