Episode 24 季節に合わせた服装

Introduction
Hello, and welcome to my English podcast! Today, we're going to explore a topic that's quite universal - how we dress according to the seasons. Let’s have a look at our small discussions.

Small Discussion Question 1
How do you typically dress yourself in winter and in summer?

Sample Answer 1
In winter, I like to bundle up to stay warm. That means you'll often find me in a heavy coat, sweater and gloves. I’d say layering is key, with thermal underwear. In contrast, summer calls for lighter clothing. I opt for t-shirts, shorts and sandals to beat the heat. It's all about staying comfortable and cool when the weather is scorching.

Small Discussion Question 2
Is it fun to change clothes according to the season?

Sample Answer 2
Absolutely, I think it's enjoyable. Each season brings its own unique style and fashion trends. It's fun to switch your clothes into the ones with different looks. Plus, adapting to the seasons allows you to fully embrace the weather and all the activities that come with it.

Let’s see today’s vocabulary!

First, we have "universal(普遍的な)." Universal means something that is applicable or understood by everyone, everywhere, or in all situations. For example, "Smiling is a universal gesture of friendliness."

Next, we have "thermal underwear(ヒートテック)." Thermal underwear refers to a type of clothing worn underneath your regular clothes to provide extra warmth in cold weather. For example, "She wore thermal underwear to stay warm during the winter hike."

Moving on, we have "shorts(短パン)." Shorts are a type of clothing that covers the upper legs and ends above the knee. They are typically worn in warm or hot weather. For example, "In the summer, I prefer to wear shorts for comfort."

Another term is "scorching(照りつけるように暑い)." Scorching describes extremely hot and burning weather. For example, "The scorching heat made it unbearable to be outside without shade."

Lastly, we have "embrace(受け入れる)." To embrace means to accept or welcome something, often a new idea, concept, or change. For example, "Many people are starting to embrace sustainable fashion as a way to protect the environment."

Conclusion
It's fascinating how our clothing choices can adapt to the ever-changing weather and the spirit of each season. Depending on where you live in the world, the situation might be quite different. Thank you for tuning in to my podcast. I hope you found this episode relatable.
Stay tuned and keep learning English!
