今日はちょっとワイドショー的なお話を。

トランプ大統領の溺愛する長女イヴァンカとその夫、ジャレッド・クシュナー氏の、ザンネンな話題を、2つ、スティーヴン・コルベアが取り上げています。


就任式に参列したら、超有名ゴルフクラブ会員にしてくれるかな？

The president is apparently angry at Ivanka and Jared over their plan to attend President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration. (中略)
（当初、イヴァンカとジャレッドはバイデン次期大統領の就任式に出席する計画でしたが、大統領の怒りを買ってしまいました。）

But the president's anger worked because soon after his hissy fit Ivanka changed her tune and is now not expected to attend.
（ですが、大統領の怒りが効いたようで、彼が癇癪を爆発させた後、イヴァンカは方針を変え、出席を取りやめるようです。）

Why was she going to attend? Well, there's a chance that Jarvanka might have been trying to get an invite to an exclusive country club in their new neighborhood because they recently became owners of one of only 29 residences located on Indian Creek Island.

さて、2つ目は、ちょっと下世話な話。ワシントンポスト紙の報道をコルベアが取り上げました。8分からです。

シークレット・サービスにトイレを使わせてあげて～

For those of you who think you couldn't dislike Jared and Ivanka more, we have an important update.
（これ以上、イヴァンカとジャレットのことを嫌いになれないほど嫌い、という人に、重要なお知らせです。）

Apparently, Secret Service assigned to Jared and Ivanka were forced to find alternative toilets after they were instructed not to use any of the half-dozen bathrooms inside the couple's house at the family's request, （ジャレット・クシュナー＆イヴァンカ夫妻付きのシークレットサービスは、クシュナー家からの要望により、家屋内に数個あるお手洗いの使用を禁じられたため、自分たちが使えるトイレを自力で調達するはめに陥ったそうです。）

For a while, agents went down the street to a bathroom in a garage at Barack and Michelle Obama's house, that was generous of them,
（しばらくの間、シークレットサービスは近所のオバマ夫妻の家まで行き、ガレージに設置されたお手洗いを使わせてもらっていたそうです。オバマ家の人達は親切ですね）

but the former president's detail banned them after a secret service supervisor from the Kushner detail left an unpleasant mess in the Obamas bathroom.
ですが、オバマ家のトイレをクシュナー家付きのシークレットサービスのトップが使った際、その使い方が汚な過ぎたとして、オバマ家付きのシークレット・サービスから使用を禁じられてしまったそうです。

After the restroom privileges revoked at the Obamas, the agents assigned to Jared and Ivanka began driving a mile away to use the restroom at Mike Pence's home.”
（オバマ家のトイレの使用許可が取り下げられてしまった後、クシュナー付きのシークレット・サービスたちは車を使い、１マイル先のペンス副大統領宅のトイレを使用していたそうです。）

１マイルって…約1.6キロ。
お手洗いの度に、と考えると辛い距離ですね。

But Secret Service needed a more permanent place to answer nature's call, so since September 2017, the federal government has been spending $3,000 a month--more than $100,000 to date--to rent a basement studio, with a bathroom, from a neighbor of the Kushner family.
（ですが、生理的欲求に答えるためには、いつでも使えるトイレを確保しておきたい。ということで2017年9月からはクシュナー家の隣人宅の、トイレ付きの地下スタジオを借りたそうですが、このために連邦政府が払った費用が毎月3000ドル。現在に至るまで計10万ドルが、トイレのために使われたそうです。）

A hundred thousand dollars!? That is some expensive crap, which, I got to say, is really on brand for Ivanka.
（10万ドルですって！？クソみたいに馬鹿高い金額ですね！最も、イヴァンカにはぴったりの話題です。）

I was not a fan of this couple before but it seems particularly douchey of Jared and Ivanka not to let Secret Service in their bathrooms.
（確かに、私は元々このカップルのファンではありませんでしたよ。でも、シークレットサービスにお手洗いを使わせてあげないなんて、イヴァンカとジャレットってウザ過ぎませんか？）

I'm just saying, these are men and women who literally would take a bullet for you. The least you can do is let them take a leak.　
（一応言っときますが、シークレットサービスの人々はあなたたちのために、凶弾に倒れるかもしれない、という任務についてくれているんですよ。せめて、用をたすぐらい、いいじゃないですか？）

ということで今日はパワーカップルの本当に残念なお話をご紹介しました。

ちなみに、20日のバイデン大統領の就任式は、予定通り屋外で執り行われるそうです。誠実性のある決断です。
