(洋書を読んだ)Writers & Lovers by Lily King

I realized that i am not comfortable about rating books, so I’m going to stop doing the whole “how many stars” thing. Instead I’ll write mostly about what I liked about the book.

One of the first thoughts I had about this book is that it’s beautifully written. I felt like her sentences had a special rhythm that made me feel like I was dancing the waltz. Her writing style is light and young and perky.

Which is why I was shocked to find out that Lily King is in her 60’s. Whaaat!! The main character, Casey, is in her early 30’s and her thoughts felt a little immature from time to time, plus even when Casey was feeling down, I felt like the writing was still uplifting. I’m just so impressed. What a flexible mind Lily King has, to be able to write from a modern day 30 year old’s perspective. I wish I were able to imagine myself as a child again and write from a child’s perspective but it’s not easy to erase all these adult emotions I have and bring back emotions of the 10 year old I once was, even if I have children of my own.

Bravo to Lily King and her brilliant writing skills!
