デリケートな問題だけど、〜交換留学日記#29～This is one of the top challenge all around the world.

先週末から気温が一桁に落ち込み、いよいよ冬がやってきそうなオランダ。
Last week, the temperature in Groningen was getting plummeted to less than 10℃, here is almost winter at last.
生活インフラが自転車であるため、非常に肌寒く感じるのでZARAでマフラーを購入しました。
Since we cannot stay without bicycles, I bought a muffler at the ZARA to put up with the winter chill in the Netherlands.

僕が衣服を買うときに大切にしているのが「いいモノを複数年着用する」ことなので長い目を見てちょっといいお値段の商品を購入しました。マフラーを買うのは多分生涯初めてで、思い返すと3歳くらいの頃に母親に編んでもらったモノ以来の着用かもしれない。まだ実家のタンスに残っている。
I emphasize that when I get new clothes, I prefer to buy rich ones because they are available for some years, so, I bought a higher quality ones.
This is the second muffler since my mother knit it for me when I was 3 years old. I still have it in a closet in my parent's home.

家に帰ってYouTubeでマフラーの巻き方について勉強したのち、早速予定されてたディナーへ身に着けていった。そしたら、「似合ってる」と言ってくれて、嬉しくなって、ノリでショットを注文してしまった、、笑
After coming back to my home, I looked into how to wear the muffler, and I put on it to predefined dinner with friends. Then a friend praised it, so I couldn't help ordering a shot of alcohol. 

こんちゃ！今回もよろしくお願いします！今回は宗教に関する経験を書きたいと思います！
Hello! Now I'd like to refer to about religious experience which I went through in person.

そのディナーは元々知っている人は全7人中わずか2人しかおらず、新たな出会いの場だった。すると、参加者の中に顔にスカーフを覆った女性がいた。
The member of the dinner was "befriend place" because 5 out of 7 was a new face for me. Then, there was a participant whose face was covered with a scarf. I believed she must be a Muslim.

いつも通り、メニューが決まると注文したが、その方は「豚肉は言ってない？」や1人だけソフトドリンクを注文するなど、僕にとってイスラム教の方の様子を知るとても貴重な機会でした。
As usual, we ordered food, then she asked about the ingredients of the dish and drank a soft drink because they are prohibited in the religion. I've never met them in Japan, so it's a precious experience for me.

料理が来るまでの間、僕はその方に興味本位でイスラム教について色々質問した。「豚肉を食べたことは本当にないのか？」や「なぜそこまで守るのか？」、「スポーツする時はそのスカーフどうするのか？」など、今振り返ると愚問ばかりだったが、知りたくて仕方なかった。
While we wait for dishes, I asked her about her religion just curious such as "Haven't you eaten pork so far?" 
"Why do you follow the rule well?"
 "When you play sports, how do you do the scarf?"
Looking back at the questions, they're not to mention her because the Muslim is an essential thing in her life absolutely.

答えは見当がつくと思うので、ここでは割愛する。ただ、僕は十人十色の社会っていいな。って思った。
I feel you can expect their answers easily, so I don't refer to them.
But I realized "beauty is in eyes of the beholder" definitely.

勿論、僕はこれまで移民社会や格差社会の現実をこの目で見てきたので、綺麗ごとを言うつもりはない。実際、僕は家探しの際に移民と見られる人に詐欺に遭った経験もある。
Of course, I cannot endorse everything for immigration society because I've seen some problems like homeless, pocket pickers, and scamming. 
In fact, I almost got scammed by them on my way to seek a house in the Netherlands.

ただ、間違えなく言えるのは「話せばわかる。」この一言に尽きる。
However, we should know each other by communicating with each other because we humans have many stereotypes.

これは別件で初めて他人に話すが、1度ミラノで€１を払ってジプシーに聞いたことがある。「なぜ、働かずに人からお金を貰おうとするのか？」と。
This is first coming out to others, but I've asked a gypsy which is a kinda ethnic living in European countries by paying a coin.

どうやら、差別されてまともな仕事が貰えないそうだ。
Then, she replied, we have been discriminated against by others.
僕は€１を代償に彼らの気持ちが少しわかった気がする。とは言え、もう二度とモノを渡すつもりがない。なぜなら他の人に与えている余裕などないからだ。
I understood their feeling a little bit by losing my €1, but I never pay them again because I can't afford to pay anymore.

日本でもかつて身分制社会があり、職業選択や結婚など様々なことが制限された過去がある。
About 300 years ago, Japan also had a hierarchy, so our ancestors didn't get jobs and married freely. 

もっと多文化が尊重される世の中になって欲しいな。自由に自分らしく生きてこそ、人生は輝くんだと思う。自由を追い求めて日本から離れてきた僕からすればすごく歯がゆい気持ちになった。
I hope someday we humans can respect about ethnic and cultures each other. 
Also, I believe we can live freely with responsibilities, and I came here to seek "freedom", so I was irritated as well.

最近エッセイやってみたいなと思ってたらちょっと堅い文章になってしまいました！僕はマメなところはありますが、堅苦しい人間ではないと思います！

さっき知ったんですけど来週からワールドカップ始まるんですね！

日本の試合も気になるのですが、試合がある日はスコットランドとロンドンにいる予定なのでみるかどうかわかりません！笑

とは言え、サッカーが強いオランダってどんな感じなのか気になったので予定が空いていたらパブリックビューイングに行って現場体験してみたいと思ってます！とは言えサッカーあまり知らないけど、1人で飛び込んでみようかな！笑
(渡欧前に少し勉強したからルールと選手名は知ってる。笑)

4年に1度の世界的イベントを海外で過ごせるのは貴重なので！！
英訳すると3倍時間かかる。笑(執筆時間1時間)
