イギリスのイングランドとウェールズで若手医師、年末、年始のストに突入。

ヨーロッパ経済ニュースEUROPE NNAは2023年12月21日に、BMA(British Medical Association/英国医師会)に加盟するイングランド(England)のジュニアドクター(Junior Doctor/若手医師)が023年12月20日に、4日間にわたるストライキを開始した。2024年01月には、NHS(National Health System/国民医療制度)で過去最長となる7日間のストを計画している。

政府との賃上げ交渉に進展がないためで、救急サービスの利用が増える年末年始の医療現場で大きな混乱が予想される。

イギリスはもちろん、日本でも過労死が後を絶たない。

ストは、2023年12月20日午前7時(現地時間)～23日午前7時と、2024年01月03日午前7時～01月09日午前7時に実施される。これを受け、一部の病院は救急部門の休業を決定した。他の病院も、「本当に緊急の場合に限り」救急サービスを利用するよう市民に呼びかけている。

イギリスのリシ・スナク首相(Rishi Sunak British Prime Minister)はストに先立ち、NHSと利用者にとって厳しい時期に実力行使に踏み切れば深刻な影響が及ぶと警告し、交渉に戻るよう求めていた。

政府はこれまで、すでに提示していた8.8%の賃上げに加え、さらに平均3%の追加引き上げを提案した。BMAはこれを受け入れておらず、35%の賃上げを求めている。

BMAには、ジュニアドクター約5万人が加盟。ウェールズ(Wales)のジュニアドクターも、2024年01月15日から72時間のストを計画している。

コロナから、休んでいない医師も多い。
