Day9 Ernest Hemingway

[Summary]
Among the major American writers of the twentieth century, few have been as influential or imitated as Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961). Hemingway had writerly aspirations early on. Renowned for his novel and short stories, Hemingway became such a public figure during his life - and constructed such an extensive mythology around himself - that it is sometimes difficult to separate the legend from the reality. As his fame increased, Hemingway earned and cultivated a reputation for writing only about war, bullfighting, hunting, big-game fishing, and other overtly masculine topics. Even with his crowning achievement, Hemingway spent his last years mired in depression and declining health, ultimately taking his own life with a shotgun in 1961. His influence on the style of the modern novel, however, remains monumental.

[Note]
I've tried to read "The Old Man and the Sea" when I was a student but I guess I gave up at that time because it was a bit difficult for me. Honestly speaking, I don't remember the details at all but I was just fascinated by the action itself because it was written by "Hemingway". We just pretend to be a person who knows the "difference" by listening to Bach, tasting Chambertin, and reading Hemingway at some point in our lives. I tried to read it and failed maybe because I was not mature enough. I didn't know that he put the end mark on his own life but he had seen too many things the same as other geniuses did.
