March 29, 2023: My Body Characteristics (1), Tall with Long Arms and Legs （ボクの体の特徴（１）、背が高く、手足が長い）

My body has some characteristics. One of them is that I am very tall, about 183cm. This means that I am about 10cm taller than the average Japanese man. It was when I was in my second year of high school that I became that tall. I was aware of this when I came back from the summer holidays. On the first day of the second term, I was lined up in order of height to sit through a long speech at the start of the term. Then, I was taller than the other seven classmates who had been taller than me in the first term. And I was the second tallest of all my classmates.
Another characteristic is that I have very long arms and legs. I found this out when I saw myself running up the stairs in my shadow. It looked like a spider with long legs had been running up them, and it was as if I had been looking at a weird creature.
But my features are very useful in my home. They help me to clean things in high places, such as overhead lights and air-conditioners, without using a stepladder.

ボクの身体にはいつかの特徴があります。一つは、背が高いことです。身長は183cmくらいあり、日本人男性の平均より10cmくらい高いです。身長は高校2年生時に10cmくらい伸びました。夏休み明けの2学期の始業式で背の順に並ばされた時のことです。前期の時はボクより背が高かった7人のクラスメイトより高くなっていたのです。そして、クラスで後ろから2番目になっていました。
もう一つの特徴は、手足がすごく長いことです。階段を駆け上がる自分の影をみて気付きました。それはまるで、足の長いクモが階段を駆け上がっているようで、気味悪い生き物を見ているようでした。でも、これらが家では重宝がられています。天井の照明やエアコンの掃除に脚立が必要ありません。
