November 9, 2022：Second Foreign Language, French (2)（第二外国語、フランス語 （2））

To begin to study French, I bought a French learning book at a bookstore in the Netherlands. The book was in English and not in Japanese. Before I bought it, I debated whether or not to buy it since I was unsure if I could learn French in English. But I decided to try it since it might help me to learn French and improve my English. Once I started it, I found it far easier to learn French in English than expected. It was better than learning in Japanese.
I put weight on enhancing French listening comprehension. So, when I was on the way to or back from home, I countlessly listened to and imitated French audio materials in my car. But the most effective way to learn French was to talk in French in France. As I often visited France on business, I could have many chances to speak French. But I was not so good at it as to have business communication in French. I always tried to choose French-speaking resorts for holidays since I would like to speak French as much as possible. When I was there, I tried to talk with locals in French unless in extreme circumstances.
I feel like studying French again.

　勉強するにあたって、英語で書かれたフランス語の学習書をオランダの書店で買いました。買う前は英語からフランス語を学べるか不安だったため、買うかどうか迷いました。でも、英語で学べば、フランスだけでなく英語の力も伸ばせると期待して、この本に挑戦することにしました。いざ初めてみると、英語でフランス語を勉強するのは想像以上に分かり易かったです。日本で勉強するよりも効果があると実感しました。
　また、リスニングを重視し、通勤の車の中で学習書に付いていたフランス語の会話を何度も聞いて、まねる練習をしました。それとなによりも効果があったのは、本場フランスで話す機会があったことです。幸いにも、仕事で度々フランスに出張したので、フランス語を話す機会もたくさんありました。とはいえ、仕事で使えるほどではありませんでした。更に、フランス語を話す機会を作るため、休暇には、フランス語圏のリゾートを選ぶようにしました。そして、リゾートでは、よほどのことがない限り、地元の人たちとフランス語で話すようにしていました。
もう一度、フランス語に挑戦したい気分になりました。
