After he got home, he was dazed for a while. He ran, soaking wet in the rain with heavy thunder and lightning. But he was very glad to get home safely. In particular, he was relieved to see that his sister was not hurt. She had also run hard in the rain. She is now having a shower now.
As time went on, his heart was filled with his regret that he had taken his sister to the sports park. ‘It was a big mistake. My sister would not have been exposed to the terrible rain if I had not invited her. What a fool I am!' He repeated this in his mind until his sister came out of the shower. But she looked good after taking the shower. She changed her clothes and began to watch TV. It was as if she had not been exposed to the rain.
So, he went into the bathroom to have a shower. Having the shower, he regained his composure. Then, he was reminded of the sketch. As soon as he got out of the shower, he rushed to see what had happened to my sketch and others. There was nothing wrong with the drawing board and the crayons. But the drawing book was a disaster. Like his clothes, it had been soaked by the rain and not a single page remained as it had been before the rain. Of course, his sketch was in the same condition, so that it was hard to look at. He lost his words and was in a daze again for a while. But he soon realised that the sketch was no longer of use. He tore the page out of the book, cut it into pieces and and threw it into the rubbish. As a result, all his efforts on the day had gone to waste. And he was extremely demotivated to do something for the sketch.
Since then, he has done nothing with the sketch. He was so disappointed that he has not in the mood to go out anywhere to sketch. But he was not yet going to give it up. He was going to make a sketch by the end of the summer holidays.
And, he began to look for something in his home that would help him to sketch. It had to be an outdoor scene, because he had to hand in a picture of nature. But it was impossible to find a real outdoor scenery in his home. So, he tried to find something with such a natural scenery. He focused on looking for such a thing in his room. He looked for it everywhere possible. As a result, he found this in a drawer of his desk. It was a tourist map for Kyoto, the cover of which shot a famous temple, the Kinkaku-ji Temple. That was exactly what he had been looking for and he elected to sketch it.

　帰宅後、彼はしばらくぼう然としていました。雷と稲妻が激しく鳴り響く雨の中、ずぶ濡れになって走り、「無事に帰れてよかった。」と。特に、妹に怪我がなかったことにほっとしました。妹は、今、シャワーを浴びています。
　時が経つにつれ、妹を運動公園に連れて行ったことを後悔するようになりました。「連れて行ったのは大間違い。誘わなければ、ひどい雨にさらされることはなかった！」と。妹がシャワーから出てくるまで、心の中でそう繰り返していました。でも、シャワーを浴びた妹は元気そうでした。服を着替え、テレビを見始めました。すっかり雨のことを忘れたようです！
　それで、彼もシャワーを浴びることにしました。シャワーを浴びると、気持ちが落ち着いてきました。すると、スケッチのことを思い出しました。シャワーから出ると、急いでスケッチなどを確認しに行きました。画板と筆記具は何の問題もなかったのですが、スケッチブックは悲惨でした。服と同様、雨に濡れ、全ページがびしょびしょでした。もちろん彼が描いたスケッチも同じ状態で、見られたものではありませんでした。言葉を失い、またしばらくぼう然自失です。でも、すぐにそのスケッチがもう役立たずだと分かり、そのページをスケッチブックから引きちぎり、切り刻んでゴミ箱に捨てました。おかげで、その日は、無駄骨となり、すっかりやる気が失せてしまいました。
　それ以来、スケッチには一切手を付けていませんでした。がっかりして、出かけてスケッチをする気が起きなかったのです。でも、まだあきらめるつもりはありませんでした。夏休みが終わるまでにスケッチを描くつもりでいたのです。
　そして、家の中でスケッチに役立ちそうなものを探し始めました。写生画を提出しなければならないので、屋外の風景が必要でした。でも、家の中に本物の屋外の風景がある分けがありません。そこで、自然の風景があるものを探しました。自分の部屋の中を集中的に探しました。ありとあらゆるところを探したら、机の引き出しの中に、あるものを見つけました。京都の観光地図です。表紙には有名なお寺の金閣寺の写真がありました。「これだ！」と思い、これをスケッチすることにしました。
