次男と歩く-練習ライド

9月1日から次男の新しい学校が始まります。

自宅から少し距離があるのでスクールバスでの通学を希望したのですが、次男が通う学校にはスクールバスがありません。

そこで、障害者が利用するアクセスカルガリーという、障害者用の送迎車両を利用することになりました。
実際に学校が始まる前に、練習ライドをした方が良いのでは？というアドバイスに基き、練習ライドに行ってきました。

前日までに予約をして、夜7時頃に、翌朝のピックアップ時間がアナウンスされます。

当日、どんなルートを通って学校にまで行くのかは一切アナウンスされませんので、実際に乗ってみないと分かりません。

我が家に迎えに来たのはタクシーでした。
タクシーにチャイルドシートを取り付けて次男をのせ、反対側に私が乗って出発しました。

道中、別の一人を拾って学校のある方へ向かい、学校近くの協会で一人を下ろし、次男が通う学校へ向かいました。

車中の次男は、窓から見える車やトラック、バスなどに手を振ったり、信号をみては、「RED LIGHT STOP」「GREEN LIGHT GO」などと言っては、乗車を楽しんでいました。

学校の公園でしばらく遊んだあと、10:28予定の家までのアクセスカルガリーで帰ってきました。

思えば学校の公園からみた景色は、雲が秋をかんじさせる雲をしていて、日本ではお盆の時期ですが、カルガリーでは、秋の始まりを感じさせる雲になっていました。

あと数回、練習ライドを繰り返し、9月1日を迎えたいと思います。

We wanted him to go to school by school bus because it is a little far from home, but the school my second son will attend does not have a school bus.

Therefore, we decided to use Access Calgary, a transportation vehicle for disabled students.
I thought it would be a good idea to do a practice ride before school actually started. Based on this advice, we went for a practice ride.

You make a reservation the day before, and around 7:00 p.m., the pick-up time for the next morning is announced.

On the day of the ride, no announcement is made as to what route will be taken to the school, so you have to actually ride to find out.

The cab that picked us up at our house was a cab.
I put my second son in the cab with his child seat attached, and I got in the other side of the cab and we left.

On the way, we picked up another one and headed toward the school, dropped one off at an association near the school, and headed toward the school my second son attends.

My second son enjoyed the ride, waving at the cars, trucks, and buses he saw out the window and saying "RED LIGHT STOP" and "GREEN LIGHT GO" when he saw a traffic light.

After playing for a while at the school park, we took the Access Calgary back to home scheduled for 10:28.

Looking back, the view from the school park had clouds that reminded me of the beginning of autumn in Calgary, even though it is the Obon season in Japan.

I hope to repeat the practice rides a few more times and welcome September 1.
