英語日記 No.59

A few days ago, I read some articles about women's education.

In Japan, over 40% of national universities surveyed plan to implement female admission quotas to address broad gender gaps in certain fields, including science and engineering. I support this policy because the lack of female students in these areas discourages other women from applying.

In stark contrast, in Afghanistan, it has been 1,000 days since the Taliban banned girls and young women from receiving higher education, which highlights the ongoing suppression of women's rights. However, I learned from an article by the Malala Fund that Afghan women and girls are learning in secret. The organization is allocating over $1.5 million in new funding to support 13 courageous organizations working tirelessly to ensure continued education for girls. They will provide digital and alternative learning programs for girls. I truly hope advanced technology can help Afghan girls continue their education despite their dire circumstances.

Thank you for reading my diary.
