I want to make a documentary film about finding my estranged father.

Hi. Nice to meet you!  My name is GoTakeuchi.
I'm a comedian.  My stage name is Black Samurai / ぶらっくさむらい.
Lately, I've been working in a wide range of fields, not just comedy.

I met my father once when I was two years old, but we drifted apart and I was raised by my Japanese mother as a single mother.

This time, I would like to challenge crowdfunding for the first time in my life To fill the hole that has been left in me.

I was born and raised in Japan, but when I was young, I was worried about being half Japanese, and I did some things that caused trouble for my parent. I wanted to leave the confines of Japan as soon as possible.

When I was 20 years old, I had a fight with my mother and Unintentionally said, "I'm going to take revenge on Japan! 
I made my mother, who was very strong, cry. 
I regret it very much.

I thought I couldn't go on like this, So I saved up money by working part-time and went to New York when I was 23.

Living in New York for seven years was very exciting and fun.I suddenly realized that the identity problems I had in Japan And my fear of being different had disappeared.

I returned to Japan and entered the world of comedians. As luck would have it, I was able to appear on famous comedy shows. I can't say that I got a huge success, but I had many experiences that ordinary people cannot have.

But there was something missing.

It was as if there was a gaping hole somewhere in my heart.

Then one day, I suddenly thought...

"Oh, by the way. What's my dad doing?"

In the meantime, the Covid-19 was raging around the world, and Italy, Where my father currently lives, was the first country in the world to experience a medical collapse, Resulting in the loss of so many lives.

When I saw the news.

I wondered, "Will I never see my father's face again?"

I had never felt that way before.

I felt an emotion that I had never felt before.

I want to see my father.

Unfortunately, my mother, who is the only person who has a clue to my father, Suffered from dementia and has been living in a nursing home for several years now.

In fact, when I was 14 years old, I received a message from my father through an acquaintance of my mother.

He said, "I never forgot about Go even for a day."
He said that.

A letter from my father 

My father came to Italy alone as a young man from Cameroon.
He attended a film school in a little town called Cinecittà.
His dream at that time was...

To be a documentary film director.

Today, my father has a regular job and is married, has children as well.
I want to continue my father's dream.

Selfishly, I am planning to visit my father for the first time in 39 years when the situation in Coronavirus calms down.
I will film the process and make a documentary film.

When the film is completed, I hope it will reach not only those who are raising children with a single parent or mixed-race children who are struggling with their identities, but also people who are confused about how to live.

That's the idea behind this project.

Target amount of support = 1,000,000 yen( 9,067.00 US$ )
・Round trip airfare to Italy⇆Tokyo = 240,000 yen
・Round trip airfare to Italy and Tokyo = 240,000 yen (for 2 people, myself and cameraman)
・Accommodation and meals for 2 people = 120,000 yen
(Assuming 7 days and 6 nights)
・Local transportation, interpreter, cordinator etc. = 150,000 yen
・Documentary production costs = ¥320,000
・Crowdfunding platform fee (17%) = 170,000 yen

The above is the minimum amount that will allow us to carry out our plan, but since the production costs are within the budget of a very, very poor film, we would greatly appreciate it if you could give us as much support as possible!

If we achieve the goal, we will start implementing the plan As soon as the effects of the new corona have subsided and We can travel to Italy without the voluntary quarantine period.

After returning to Japan, we will edit and complete the film, And aim to submit it to Asian documentaries and other film festivals in 2022 or 2023.

Due to the impact of Corona, we are unable to set a definite schedule for this project, and we ask for your understanding. As soon as we know the schedule of travel and filming, we will contact our supporters by email. We will definitely carry out the project!

The target amount we have set for this project is almost entirely for the cost of going to Italy to shoot.

But the cost of hiring the cameraman, script writer, and the editing staff, even after the film is completed, 1,000,000 yen will not be enough to cover the costs of participating in film festivals in Japan and abroad, screening the film at mini-theaters, etc..

The more support we receive, the better the quality of the film and the more options we can make to reach more people. We would be grateful if you could chip in if you can.

No one knows yet how this film will end.
I'm prepared for the worst.

But rather than end up doing nothing, I'd like to do my best.

If I can get in touch with another root of myself that I haven't seen yet, if I can find a piece of the puzzle that I've been looking for for a long time, I feel that my heart will grow and I will be able to create a new life.

I mean, it's only once in a lifetime that you get to meet your old man, right?
