【A Day at beBit】Consultant | Mid Level

“A Day at beBit” is a series that introduces the daily work life of employees of each occupation.
For this installment, we would like to introduce the daily work schedule of one of our consultants, Shingo-san!

【Shingo-san’s Profile】

●Department and Position:UX Growth - Consultant

【Job Introduction】

I plan and implement improvement projects using “USERGRAM,” a tool that enables qualitative understanding of user behavior.
I also work side by side with clients to help them learn how to design better UX on their own, ultimately aiming to achieve a world filled with better UX.
At beBit, a manager typically pairs up with a consultant and provides operational support. I recently started my challenge as a manager, so I am working both as a consultant supporting clients and as a manager for younger consultants.

【Daily Schedule】

9:00 Starting Work / Checking Daily To Dos
First, I list up what I must complete that day.
On this day, as a consultant,  I met with clients and got the go on how to proceed with a project, and as a manager, I established plans based on issues identified.

9:30 Designing Client Meetings / Checking
I organize what will be discussed with clients the day before, but on the day of, I review the contents and finalize the materials.
I ensure that the plans can be achieved based on “the goal,” “the client’s current situation,” and “how to achieve the goal given the client's current situation.”

My go-to is the sofa space at the back of the office

11:00 Meeting with my manager
I have a meeting with my manager to review the status of what has been accomplished for the client meeting. After reporting the content organized for the client meeting, we discuss the important points and make sure no perspective has been left out.

11:30 Final preparations for the client meetings
I finalize the materials and talking points for the client meeting based on the feedback from my manager.

12:00 Meeting with the client
Roughly 2~3 times a week, I have online meetings with my client.

13:00 Lunch break
On days I work remotely, I take a quick walk to the grocery store to buy food. When I’m busy, I tend to order food through Uber as well.
Once a week, I have online lunch with my team members.

14:00 Organize the meeting content
I organize the decisions made and discussed during the meeting and identify actions to be taken by the next meeting. The organized content is discussed the following day during the meeting with my manager.

15:00 Plan measures for the issues identified as a manager
I consider what can be improved so that I can later have a discussion with the junior consultant.
I identify and analyze user issues through USERGRAM to determine what a better experience would be, and what specific measures need to be taken to achieve that experience.

17:00 Meeting with the junior consultant
I have a meeting with the junior consultant I work with and discuss the measures we should take. The junior consultant and I will share the ideas we came up with and ensure we don’t miss anything.

Meetings with the assigned consultants are held daily.

18:00 Leaving work
Once I finish organizing the work that needs to be done the next day, I leave work.
On Fridays, I make sure to organize the work that needs to be done the following week prior to leaving work.

【What Makes my Job Worthwhile】

Since our clients are sincerely committed to improving UX, it is very rewarding to work together as a single team in order to achieve a goal.
Generally speaking, “consultants” often make recommendations and leave the implementation to the client. However, for us, we work side by side with the client and verify the effectiveness of our work, so we are responsible for ensuring that the measures taken produce the desired results. It is especially rewarding when our plans produce results.
