Sharing the latest UX news daily on #uxpicks!

Hello everyone!
I’m Mao Kawamura, Secretary and PR in the MCO (Market Creation Office). If you want to find out more about me, feel free to check out 「The Start of beBit’s Open Newsletter」😉

In this note article, I’ll be talking about the charms of the #uxpicks Slack channel in addition to the thought process behind its creation.

・First off, what is “#uxpicks?”

If you think the name sounds familiar, you’re probably correct - While I don’t want to announce this too loudly, ”UXPicks” may or may not be in reference to NewsPicks 😂

#uxpicks was created in order for us to Pick up information on the latest UX trends in order to recognize whether the world is progressing towards beBit’s vision, or if there are movements in which we weren’t expecting.

The #uxpicks channel. As Slack has many reactions, it’s fun to find ones that match the article 😂

・Why we started #uxpicks

Originally, the following issues existed within the MCO:

  1. It’s difficult to see the role beBit plays and the value beBit provides in the world from an outside perspective.

  2. Despite the varying levels of UX knowledge within the MCO, there are few opportunities to learn and unify our thoughts and images on UX.

  3. While we want to learn about the latest UX trends, it’s difficult to find time to research the information in our own time.

We felt there may be other individuals who also felt this way, so we decided to start this channel as a way for everyone to casually see up to date information about UX!

Of course, it took a good amount of courage to proceed with this project in an environment in which there are so many individuals who are highly knowledgeable about UX. With hopes that at least 30 individuals would join the channel by the end of June, we officially started operations (announced March 17th on #general ).

Once we posted on #general , we were surprised to see almost 60 individuals join us in an instant!

Currently as of April 18th, we have 87 members, which is roughly half of the Japan office!🤩👏🎉

The #uxpicks team is very thankful for everyone reading the articles and sending reactions our way.

A huge thanks for the reactions♡

Through #uxpicks , we hope that we can contribute new discoveries to as many people as possible, and we will continue to operate the channel in order to benefit you.

・How do you choose the UX articles?

We check the reactions and comments from the readers in order to figure out what kind of information to look for.

beBit has a large number of employees who come from different industries. I myself had very little experience in IT as I was a wedding coordinator in Hawaii🌴,and when I first joined beBit, I had no idea how to find information I needed.

In fact, the MCO is a team of unique individuals from many different industries, so we try to select information from a wide variety of perspectives varying from information useful for those who aren’t as experienced in UX to information that may be a little bit more in depth. Additionally, there are also some English articles so that the information can be viewed by English speakers as well.

We decided to post content without any limitations, as long as we find the articles interesting or we feel that the information is useful.  We intentionally have everyone post without checking the content prior to the release since we value the intuitive perspective that each individual has.

Whether this format works or if there needs to be improvements will hopefully become clear through our future surveys (scheduled to be conducted at the end of each quarter). We’re constantly looking for ways to send out better content for the users, so I hope that we can “grow” #uxpicks together!🙇‍♀️

・Who picks the content?

From left to right: Eri, Kenny, Mao, and Hiro. Ota-san is bewildered by the "#uxpicks" pose proposed by Mao.

Bam! The four of us operate the channel!

In the future, we hope that anyone from any department will post as freely as they do on #general . If you discover any information that you find interesting, please feel free to post on #uxpicks !

・Highlights!

▽Point 1

FUJII-san.  Please check out his After Digital series ♪

Seeing what people think about each of the articles provides a valuable learning experience, so we hope you enjoy their comments as well!

Currently only the #uxpicks team has been posting content, but we hope that everyone will join in posting articles and tagging individuals they’d like to hear from as well! Someday we hope #uxpicks becomes a lively channel in which notifications keep ringing!

It is our hope that you utilize the channel as a casual communication tool to align your thoughts on UX!
