Hirayama-san who works on UX Design and UX Human Resource Development

●Name/Nickname: “Hirayama” or my first name
●Department & Position:UX Design in the Experience Design team and UX Human Resource Development in the Corporate Strategy Unit
●Year Joined:2017
●Birth Place:Fukuoka

1:Why did you join beBit?

I wanted to do “meaningful work” from a micro perspective, and not “meaningful work” from a macro perspective.

I have an ambition to have more people love Japan, so after graduation I thought “I’ll join a general trading company! I’ll create an infrastructure!” As I searched for a job, I began to take a micro viewpoint as I felt “even if electricity is supplied and new industries are established, it’s pointless if people are sacrificing their well-being.” That’s when I met beBit.

2:Please tell us about the work you do at beBit

I do project management for UX Design and Human Resource Development.
For Human Resource Development, I am responsible for recruiting new grads and designing/managing the training program for new employees.
I am honored to be responsible for developing the future of beBit.

3:Tell us one thing you like about beBit

I like the people. It’s a great environment where people won’t laugh at you for being inexperienced.
I also like the fact that a lot of people are a bit crazy.
As people get older, there is more that they must protect their lifestyle, meaning people tend to become quieter and less outspoken. It’s nice that this environment allows everyone to voice their opinions.

4:What do you do during your free time?

My wedding is on October 1st, so I’ve been preparing for that.
I had no idea that I would be getting everything prepared behind the scenes like I do for client work in my private life as well.
I’ve learned that it’s very important to communicate and prepare everything beforehand for my partner’s family.
It looks like getting married is pretty UX related as well.

5:If you were an animal, what would you be?

I would like to be a dog. Because I love dogs.
I am not comfortable counting dogs as “ippiki, nihiki” (How dogs are typically counted in Japanese).
They should be counted as “hitori, futari” (The same way humans are counted in Japanese).

6:If you could be reborn, what would you want to be?

I’d like to try being cheered on loudly as someone like an Idol or a professional athlete.

7:Tell us about any recommended places or products from your hometown

Here. It has 191 reviews with 4.3 stars on Google. It’s the best.

8:What’s something about you that hasn’t changed since you were a child?

How dark my face/skin is…
and how I enjoy my alone time.

9:Please tell us about your talent, or anything you are proud of

I am great at baseball. I play sandlot baseball with friends around my age. We take the game rather seriously.
As the representative team of Shinjuku City, in the past we placed 3rd in Tokyo. This year, we were 4th. Next year, we are aiming to be 1st.

10:Tell us about any challenges you would like to attempt

I would like to experience turning my hobbies into work.
To begin, I have to master my hobbies, so I will enjoy my hobbies as hard as I can.
People say that once you turn your hobby into work, it stops being fun, but as far I can see everyone seems to continue enjoying what they do.
I wonder how people decide when it “stops being fun”? It leaves me curious!
