【Inside beBit】 Customer Success - Sakabe-san
Inside beBit - A project in which we ask 10 questions about a beBit member's work and personal life. We hope that “Inside beBit” will provide an opportunity to get to know more about the individuals you work with.
In this issue, we asked Sakabe-san from the Customer Success team to answer our questions!

1:Tell us about your background
After 3 years of researching chemistry in the graduate program at Osaka University, I joined Benesse Corporation as a new graduate in order to learn soft skills rather than technical skills. There I spent 6 months in the educational material production department editing “intellectual curiosity booklets” for 4th graders. I was so busy preparing proposals and rough drafts of the booklets that I was even correcting errors in my dreams!
Then, I moved to the department in charge of individual tutoring and managed teachers and supervised the franchise schools.
During my time there, I was in charge of setting up new classrooms, meaning I was in charge of everything from sales activities to training part time workers to administrative work.
When I started getting teased by the part-timers I grew close with, I knew it was a great classroom. (I would have been even happier if couples had formed between the instructors, but I never got to see that happen…)
After working for Benesse for 3 and a half years, I worked at a venture company where I was the CEO’s secretary and customer support for SaaS tools before moving to beBit.
2:Why did you join beBit?
The decisive factor for me was that I deeply agreed with the mission “to help people who want to truly be helpful to someone else.” Through my experience at my previous companies, I knew that if my mentality wasn’t in line with the philosophy, vision, and mission, I would not be able to do my best. The message beBit was sending out was exactly what I was looking for.
I had applied to multiple companies at the time, but decided to join beBit as I felt that beBit was a company that looked at me as an individual through the presentation they allowed me to do during my third interview and the fact that they allowed me to choose my own start date.
3:Please tell us about the work you do at beBit
As a member of the Customer Success team, I lead the team that supports the implementation of USERGRAM.
USERGRAM is a tool that allows you to view user behavioral data, but how you obtain the data will change how you can utilize it. The measurement team considers how to obtain data that can be utilized and what to do if it is technologically difficult or takes too many person-hours to obtain the data, while at the same time making proposals according to the customers needs.
Although I am currently working shorter hours, I work to create an environment where members can focus on customer support, train new members, organize internal flows, and work hard to be active behind the scenes.
I am proud that the team I started in 2020 has grown and continues to gain momentum internally and externally, even through my maternity leave.
4:What is the most memorable or rewarding job you’ve done at beBit?
The most rewarding job I did was setting up the measurement team.
Things were great after I joined the company, but the difficult part was that I lacked technical knowledge.
I felt that the customers were the ones who set up the measurements, so if I didn't know the details, I couldn’t keep up with the customer’s conversation. After mentioning that I wanted to acquire technical knowledge, beBit decided to start the measurement team, which I became a part of 4 months after joining beBit. I started off acquiring my own knowledge, and when I became accustomed to dealing with customers, I began to train new team members, organize knowledge that was scattered in various locations, and improve the technical knowledge of Customer Support members that were not a part of the measurement team.
Since the measurement team started providing measurement support for USERGRAM, we have received feedback that “USERGRAM is easier to use,” and when sales introduces us to customers, they refer to us as measurement specialists. It was very rewarding to see that the significance of our team was growing.
5:Tell us one thing you like about beBit
The fact that there are so many fun otakus. Many people give you much more information than you ask for, and I admire them while I also enjoy conversing with them as well. I also think that our enjoy_●● Slack channels are very unique, and I am very happy that whenever I want to plan something, I always get a response.
I feel a similar way when it comes to my work as well, so I am very comfortable here.
6:What do you do during your free time?
My daughter just turned 1, so I usually go on walks or go shopping. I have raised her to sleep through the night, so after I put her to bed, I have a drink at home!
7:What’s something about you that hasn’t changed since you were a child?
The fact that I have a hard time keeping a straight face. Being happy when I can relate to someone. Being a slow runner. Coming up with ideas and for better or for worse, acting immediately. Hating death and waste.
8:Please tell us about your talent, or anything you are proud of
My talent is being able to calculate 11×11~19×19 very quickly. If you see me around, try asking “what’s 14x18?”
What I am proud of is that I still haven’t lost my Kansai dialect.
9:What makes you the happiest? Or, tell us about when you were happiest recently
What made me happy was that I found out having short hair fits me!
For 11 years, I’ve had long hair (in college, I was told from 3 people that “short hair is for pretty girls”), and since I recently visited “the best short hair dresser in Omiya” who I found on Instagram, I feel I have discovered the hairstyle that suits me best.
When I cut my hair short, I feel the urge to put on huge earrings. I really enjoy the time I spend trying to figure out which earrings to wear that day!
10:Tell us about any challenges you would like to attempt
In my personal life, I would like to establish an environment where my daughter can do what she wants. When going on walks, I try to leave the direction we go to up to my daughter's curiosity, but that might be difficult to continue as she grows a little older.
In my work life, I would like to have more people within the company know who I am so that when anyone wants to have their day brightened, they can come speak to me!
