【Inside beBit】Market Creation Office - Fujiwara-san

Inside beBit - A project in which we ask 10 questions about a beBit member's work and personal life. We hope that “Inside beBit” will provide an opportunity to get to know more about the individuals you work with.
In this issue, we asked Fujiwara-san from the Market Creation Office to answer our questions!

1:Tell us about your background
I was born and raised in Osaka by a very “Kansai family” that runs a business.
After graduating school in Kyoto, I joined damage insurance company where I was in charge of explaining auto insurance products and setting up presentations for people at Nissan Motors.
I was married once, and during that time, I worked at a ryotei restaurant in Tokyo wearing a Kimono, so I never imagined myself working at a company like beBit!

2:Why did you join beBit?
Matsugami-san, a friend of mine, invited me to a company with “USERGRAM, Human Centered Design, and research rooms (what?)” - all terms that I was unfamiliar with. I vividly recall stepping into our previous office in Ichigaya with doubt in my mind. If I was job searching for myself, I would not have even considered this industry, but the philosophy of helping others struck close to home so I decided to join the company.

3:Please tell us about the work you do at beBit
I work as an Assistant to the Office of CEOs. I coordinate schedules and perform back office work in order to allow Endo-san and Nakajima-san to focus on their work. I also keep timing and other factors in mind so that my support does not become a burden or hindrance. I hope that I’ve been supporting them well!

4:Tell us what you value most when working
I want to be flexible when it comes to work and the people I work with, rather than judging from the beginning.

5:Tell us one thing you like about beBit
Many talented people work here, allowing me to gain new perspectives that I originally did not have. In addition, I am very thankful that I get to work at such a stylish office (even though I work remotely most of the time).

6:What do you do during your free time?
My hobbies were overseas travel, golf, and tea ceremonies, but since I started spending more time at home because of the pandemic, Korean dramas and collecting antiques have also become new hobbies of mine.
In Korean dramas, I prefer stories with rich families and the drama surrounding them. The meanness that you don’t see in Japanese dramas and the emotional tear jerking scenes have got me hooked.
When it comes to collecting antiques, I started out buying treasures (that others might think of as trash) in Paris. Now I enjoy going to antique markets in Kyoto and Kanto and discovering beautiful ceramics.

7:Tell us a recommended location or product from your hometown
My parents live in Fukushima, Osaka (most of you are probably not familiar), near a famous local oden restaurant called “Hanakujira.” Eating and drinking there will cost no more than 3,000 yen, and I often bring guests from Tokyo. Most people are very surprised and happy about the pricing. Recently, the Nakanoshima Museum of Art has opened in Osaka, so I would recommend visiting there as well.

8:Who is your role model?
Not a role model, but my mother often told me fortune is unpredictable and changeable. You can never predict what will happen in the world, or even in your own life. Every sad and happy moment in life is important, but I would like to live life so that I can be happy with the path I have chosen.

9:What makes you the happiest? Or, tell us about when you were happiest recently
I often get together with my family, friends from my school days, and people from my former jobs. While I enjoy meals at fancy restaurants, I also enjoy talking about anything from silly to serious topics at a casual restaurant.

10:Tell us about any challenges you would like to attempt
I don’t have anything that I can think of right away… but I would like to see the people I want to see, go to places I want to go, eat what I want to eat, and cherish the people I meet along the way so that I can look back and recall how happy my life was.
